Sitio Upper Bugsay have four (4) active associations including a Farmer’s Association with 80 members, NIA
Irrigators Association, Tricycle Operator Driver Association (TODA), one youth organization, and one inactive
Rural Improvement Club.
As to source of income, majority were farmers (80%) whose income ranges from P10,000 - 20,000, while 10%
were engaged into charcoal making, illegal logging, and some were sari-sari store owners while the other 10%
work as laborers. Some of them have poultry and piggery. There were facilities such as Day Care Center,
Elementary School, High School, Health Station, Covered Court, water system but not accessible to most
households, three (3) Solar Dryer managed by the Farmer Association and Rice Mill Cooperative.
Upon social investigation, the community identified poor access to potable water as their priority concern which
was made worse during dry season affecting not only the households but also the school constituents as well
as those in charge in the provision of basic health services. Insufficient source of income was also identified.
Accordingly, after harvest season, usually during the month of February to April, people tend to find work as
sales lady/boy, housekeeper, carpenter and as construction worker. Others resorted to charcoal making, and
even to the extent that few engaged in illegal logging. Cases of malnutrition was also rampant.
