Diss Syllabus
Subject Description: Discipline in Social Sciences introduce students to basic concepts, subjects, approaches, and methods on inquiry in the disciplines that comprise the Social
Sciences. It then discusses influential thinker and ideas in these disciplines, and enable the students to relate these ideas to the Philippine setting and surrent global trends.
CONTENT STANDARDS:
At the end of the semester, the learners should be able to understand:
1. The emergence of Social Sciences and the different diciplines;
2. Key concepts and approaches in the Social Sciences;
3. Key concepts in the Social Sciences rooted in Filipino language/s and experience; and
4. The role of Social Science in the world.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
The learner should be able to:
1. Connect tsciplines with their historical and social foundations;
2. Interpret personal and social experiences using relevant approaches in the Social Science;
3. Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the pproach;
4. Carry out an exporation of personal and social experiences using indiginous concepts; and
5. Illustrate situations and context in which Social Science can be applied.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the end of the semester, the learners shoul be able to:
1. Examinne and critique diferent indiginous concepts, ideas, and theories developed by Filipino soocial scientist and thinker and study Philippines history, culture,
society, and psyche;
2. Connect and relate the disciplinnes and idesa in the Social Sciences in their daily living; and
3. Manifest a holistically developed citizen who is aware and knowlegeable of and critically and analyzes current social issues and concerns in the local and global level.
