Ken Tucker Entertainment Weekly Evolution is full of tolerance preachments - "Don't fret it - embrace it," one mutant will tell another; if only it had the superior art of almost any one of the multitude of X-Men comic-book titles. Rated: C- Jul 6, 2018 Full Review Phillip Stephens Pajiba Not a great show, but a good one, and lots of fun for X-Men devotees. Mar 6, 2019 Full Review Common Sense Media Editors Common Sense Media It's great for kids to see the message of tolerance but the show definitely gets their attention through its numerous and very pyrotechnic battle scenes. Rated: 3/5 Jul 9, 2018 Full Review Pete Imbesi CBR Instead of being beholden to the incarnations that came before it, Evolution strips away all the science fiction, politics and lore to give a fresh, back-to-basics look at one of the most relatable and enduring superhero franchises of all time. Jul 9, 2018 Full Review James Hunt Den of Geek Unfortunately, the writing in the early season wasn't really up to scratch and it improved a little too slowly to convince purists put off by the seeming disregard for the source material. Jul 9, 2018 Full Review Matthew Wells What Culture Evolution was a pleasant surprise for most X-Men fans, and the show is still watchable even today. Jul 6, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Boc T Only seen a handful of episodes of this show during its initial run, so this is new for me. Animation can be better. Comedy isn't really there (Kurt) and it feels toned down more for kids than the 90s cartoon. Rogue & Storm are great. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/15/24 Full Review Steven R Solid vocal cast, great character designs by Steven E. Gordon, and smooth animation. The plot leans heavily into the school format, and several episodes are consequently low-stakes as the series tries to find its tone balancing the superhero with the student. It may not be the definite and ultimate X-Men depiction, but it is THE ONE when it comes to humanizing the main cast and preenting them as believable teenagers who have lives outside of Xavier's institute and playing superheroes.
