What to Know

Critics Consensus

Making great use of Josh Holloway's rugged charm and a retro aesthetic that recalls 1970s television, Duster slaps a fresh coat of paint on a vintage vehicle.

Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times “Duster” is stupid fun, a comic melodrama steeped in 1970s exploitation flicks, with a lot of loving homage to period clothes, knickknacks and interior design. May 19, 2025 Full Review Robert Levin Newsday This is a fun throwback and a return to form for J.J. Abrams. Rated: 3/4 May 19, 2025 Full Review Ben Travers IndieWire Not all of it works and Season 1 never kicks into fourth gear, but “Duster” gets so many of the little things right, it’s easy to set your quibbles aside and just enjoy the ride. Rated: B May 16, 2025 Full Review Polly Conway Common Sense Media Duster doesn't bring much new with its premise, but it's fun to watch the expertly chosen cast chew a little scenery. May 21, 2025 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba It’s not complicated. The writing from co-creators J.J. Abram and LaToya Morgan is clean and unpretentious, and the whole thing feels like an easy ride carried by likable characters you actually want to invest in. May 20, 2025 Full Review Randy Dankievitch Processed Media Even if it doesn't fully realize its potential, Duster's pilot promises a season featuring a pair of charismatic main characters, and some great scoring and costume design to back up its vintage car chasin' and prototypical character dramatics. Moxie R There’s something about it, makes me look forward to a new episode. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/08/25 Full Review Jordan L I LOVE Josh Holloway from both Lost and Colony! Was hoping he would be as good in this series as those. He did not disappoint. He’s cool, bad-ass, and funny, too. You have to see the Road-runner cartoon in episode 4, absolutely had me laughing. Rachel Hilton is also brilliant in it by ramping up the mystery while battling her own demons and others’ low expectations. Really a romp that keeps the cars speeding, the mystery deepening, and the villains piling up. Just an absolute joy ride!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/08/25 Full Review Slick R Josh Holloway looks too old for this role. He looks 55 but with a wig. He definitely looks 25 years older than when he was on Lost. The first episode was OK but it kinda got boring after that. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/08/25 Full Review Audience Member I really wanted to like the show but I just found it so boring. It seemed like it could have been great. But the story just plodded along with nothing really interesting happening, and without any really interesting characters or dialog. I kind of had to make myself watch it, hoping that it got better, but it never did. Made it through three episodes and then finally quit. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/08/25 Full Review Forbidden P Fun, fun, fun. Same kind of vibe as Breaking Bad, but not as serious. 70s muscle cars, car chase scenes, bad guys, good guys. The actors give a great rendition of 70s TV. I.m glad I show enough commercials to push for a view. now I'm hooked after one episode. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/03/25 Full Review William S This show is to Quentin Tarantino what the Fargo tv series is to the Coen Brothers. Pure 70’s pulp awesomeness Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/03/25 Full Review Read all reviews
