25. INSPIRATIONAL
A. Nena knew what she had to do. Now was not the time to give up. She has gone this far
and there was no turning back. She tried to get up again and again but found herself
back down each time.
B. Roy pedaled as fast as he could, and at last, he saw the checked flag. Victory was just a
few meters away. He pedaled harder and harder and at last, he crossed the finish line.!
He won! The crowd cheered and Roy felt exhilarating. He was the first amputee to have
won the race.
26. MELANCHOLIC
A. The old woman walked slowly towards the window as she did so many times in the past
year and a half. A lone tear rolled down her cheek as she though once more of her long
love. She knew in her heart that he was alive somewhere. She longed for her return.
B. Jose caressed his mother’s hand, swollen from the needles that punctured her delicate
skin. She seemed to have aged in the two days she had been in the hospital. But, Joe
knew her ordeal will soon be over.

A. Myla had a pet dog named Sugar. One day, Sugar got sick. Myla brought the dog to a
lady veterinarian who gave her pet some medication. But Sugar won’t eat. After a few
days, Sugar died. Tears flowed down Myla’s cheeks.
B. Children rushed to buy tickets for the basketball game. Their favorite basketball players
will be seen in actions, and they just can’t wait to get a glimpse of them. The children
were all laughing and talking at the same time. Everybody inside the gym cheered when
the basketball players finally entered.

It had been a long winter. When spring came, Ben was so excited to go outside. He went for a walk
in the woods with his mom. He smelled the fresh clean air. He saw lots of little critters like baby
bunnies, deer and butterflies. Then Ben saw some flowers. He picked the flowers and hid them.
Ben shouted, "Surprise!". He gave the flowers to his mom. Ben's mom smiled.
I ran in a big race today. We all gathered at the starting line. A man fired a gun and the race began.
I ran past a group of girls. Soon I crossed the finish line. Mom was proud of me. She gave me a big
hug. Then she took me out for pizza.

Zach knows that his parents have busy jobs. They bring home money to pay for their needs and
wants. They needed that washing machine. Zach still wants a laptop. The family has decided to
save some money each week so they can buy in the future.
Han Seng has a remote-controlled toy robot. It needs 2 batteries to operate. It can walk and speak.
He always plays with it during his free time.
At the weekend, his friends, Hubert and Raymond come to his house. They play the toy robot
together. Hubert buys a blue t-shirt for the toy robot. Raymond buys a pair of red shorts. They like
the toy robot very much.
Once upon a time, there was a poor fisherman, who lived in a small shack. One day, he went out to
the sea to catch fish on his boat. When he pulled up his net, he was surprised to find a shiny
golden fish trapped in his net. “Please let me go you kind man!” cried the golden fish. The
fisherman was shocked to see a talking fish. He pitied the fish and put it back to the sea. The
golden fish was very grateful. He said to the fisherman, “I shall repay your kindness.” When the
fisherman returned to his home, he was amazed to see his small shack changed into a big house.
