The last decade has witnessed fields like machine learning and natural language processing

have significantly affected every industry and area of scientific research, including
engineering. Machine learning engineering professionals leverage Artificial Intelligence to
build and optimize systems and provide AI technology with new data inputs for
interpretation. I have always been fascinated by how machine learning allows the user to feed
a computer algorithm an immense amount of data and have the computer analyze and make
data-driven recommendations and decisions based on only the input data. If any corrections
are identified, the algorithm can incorporate that information to improve its future decision
making. Undoubtedly, computer science plays a key role when it comes to working at the
forefront of technological innovation, contributing to the design, development, testing, and
manufacturing processes for new generations of devices and equipment.
An extensive course of Master's in Computer Science from your respected university will
help me discover and implement the latest engineering applications of artificial intelligence
and machine learning which can be proved to be a path for me for career advancement on the
forefront of the field. The ability to solve problems effectively is an important life skill that is
emphasized heavily in the field of computer science. Through the coursework provided, I will
get an opportunity to learn how to solve problems in a variety of business, scientific, and
social settings by designing, developing, and analyzing the software and hardware used to do
so.
In my bachelor's in Electronics and Telecommunication, my passion and curiosity in
computer technology motivated me to enroll into electives focusing on computer science and
networking. The course of programming helped me gain a good command over C++ and get
familiar with problem solving. Database Management Systems introduced me to SQL,
MongoDB, and R programming which I later used in various projects. I also have an
immense interest in NLP and have been continuously upgrading myself in language models
as creation of machine learning models. Concepts like natural language processing (NLP) and
computer vision (CV) are quite fascinating to me as they are helping industries like financial
services, healthcare, and automotive accelerate innovation, improve customer experience, and
reduce costs. The Computer Networks course highly captured my interest as it helped me
gain knowledge of how information is transmitted through routers across the world and how
data is broken and sent as packets really captivated my curiosity.
Along with my undergraduate courses, I have completed online credentials and certifications
in field of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and
Software Development from sources such as coursera, datacamp, google cloud, IBM,
Microsoft to dive deeper into the field of computer science. One of the important and
interesting courses I completed was offered by the University of Helsinki in Elements of
Artificial intelligence - 2 ECTS
I have been actively part of the CodeChef programming community at my college. I was
selected because of my core competency in programming. Here, my primary responsibility
was to phrase, and make algorithmic problems and their editorials for coding competitions
and teach data structures and algorithms to juniors at our coding Bootcamp. I was an avid
participant in debate and vocational competitions. I have also represented our college at the
reverberations debate competition in 2020 and secured the runner-up position.
During my degree program, I got the opportunity to work as a software intern at CloudSocial
Tech Pte Ltd. My technical expertise and effective communication skills got this summer
internship extended to 6 months. Here my key role was to design and develop software
solutions, co-ordinate with the team members to understand their requirements, build quality
software with coding standards and technical design, work with developers to design
algorithms, flowcharts, layouts, and document it, identify requirements and solutions, work
closely with mentors for concurrent development as well as problem solving. I also worked
on a research paper during my technical internship with reliance Jio, which is India’s largest
5G network provider company. This paper was based on 5G networks titled “digital twins for
Artificial Intelligence enabled 5G networks”.

One of the primary reasons why I intend to pursue an MS is a CS degree from your university
is the work of Professor Tina Eliassi-Rad. Her research work in data mining and machine
learning, and spans theory and algorithms align my interest and if given a chance I will be
able to bring my own innovative ideas to the table. I look forward to enrolling in her courses
in Machine Learning and Data Mining and Introduction to Computer Science Research.

Northeastern’s Co-op program will provide me the opportunity to explore my potential career
paths, increase my corporate network, expand perspectives, and acquire the skills and
knowledge needed to succeed, all while learning and growing outside the comfort zone of the
classroom. The extensive coursework in CS, including electives like Advanced Machine
Learning, Mobile Application Development, Game Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining
Techniques, Large-Scale Parallel Data Processing etc. will help me in accomplishing my goal
of becoming a successful software developer who codes to design smart systems that make
people’s lives better, easier and more convenient. Snell Library is the place where I can sit for
hours to study and can read books by some of the great authors in the world. Finally, with its
ability and capacity to equip students with all the resources for personal and professional
development, Northeastern University is all I need to get enrolled in to accomplish my
desired goals.
