8. Determine the Thevenin equivalent of the circuit as seen from the terminals a-b.

9. Determine the Norton equivalent of the circuit as seen from terminals a-b. Use the equivalent
to find Io.

10. Calculate the average power absorbed by each of the five elements in the following circuit.
Assume the voltages given in the circuit is RMS value.

11. A load Z draws 12 kVA at a power factor of 0.856 lagging from a 120-V rms sinusoidal source.
Calculate: (a) the average and reactive powers delivered to the load, (b) the peak current, and
(c) the load impedance.
12. In the following circuit, the 60 Ω resistor absorbs an average power of 240 W. Find V and the
complex power of each element of the circuit. What is the overall complex power of the circuit?
(Assume the current through the 60 Ω resistor has no phase shift.)

13. Two loads connected in parallel are respectively 2 kW at a pf of 0.75 leading and 4 kW at a pf
of 0.95 lagging. Calculate the pf of the two loads combined. Find the complex power supplied
by the source.
14. Assume the abc phase sequence and the 110 V is the peak voltage of source, calculate the line
currents in the three-wire Y-Y system. Also Determine the total complex power absorb by the
three phase load.
