GENERAL

PHYSICS 2
I. Direction: Read the items
carefully then answer.

1. What is a capacitor?
- A capacitor is a device that stores electrical energy in an electric
field.
- Any two conductors separated by an insulator.

2. Why do capacitors block DC currents?

- The electrode plates of the capacitor are separated by an insulator.
Hence, no DC current can flow unless the insulation is shattered.

3. What is the unit of capacitance?

- The SI unit of capacitance is the farad, F
I. Direction: Read the items
carefully then answer.

4. What is the relationship among C, Q, and V?

- The more capacitance C the capacitor possesses, the more charge Q
will be forced in by a given voltage. The capacitance C is directly
proprotional to charge Q at a given voltage.

Q Q = CV
C = Q/V
C V V = Q/C
II. Direction: Calculate the values asked in the
following questions with the given circuit
diagram. Show complete solution.

1. Determine the values of the following

variables in Circuit A.
a.V1
b.V2
c.V3
d.Q1
e.Q2
f.Q3
g.Total Capacitance, CT
h.Total Charge, QT
2. Determine the charge in each capacitor and
the voltage across each capacitor in Circuit B.
