VIRTUAL LAB ASSINGMENT – 1

1. Installing Windows in Virtual Machine/Workstation


1. Download and install a virtual machine software. There are many different virtual
machine softwares available, such as VirtualBox, VMware Workstation, and Parallels
Desktop. I recommend using VirtualBox, which is free and open source.
2. Download the Windows ISO file. You can download the Windows ISO file from the
Microsoft website.
3. Create a new virtual machine. Once you have installed VirtualBox, open it and click
on the "New" button. In the "Name" field, enter a name for your virtual machine. In
the "Operating System" drop-down menu, select "Microsoft Windows". In the
"Version" drop-down menu, select the version of Windows that you want to install.
4. Allocate memory and storage for your virtual machine. In the "Memory" field, enter
the amount of RAM that you want to allocate to your virtual machine. In the "Hard
Disk" field, click on the "Create a virtual hard disk now" button. In the "File Type"
drop-down menu, select "VDI (VirtualBox Disk Image)". In the "Storage on Physical
Hard Disk" section, select the location where you want to store the virtual hard disk
file. In the "Virtual Hard Disk Size" field, enter the size of the virtual hard disk file.
5. Set up your virtual machine. Once you have allocated memory and storage for your
virtual machine, you can set up other settings, such as the processor, network
adapter, and display.
6. Start your virtual machine. Once you have configured your virtual machine, you can
start it by clicking on the "Start" button.
7. Install Windows. When your virtual machine starts, you will be prompted to install
Windows. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows.
8. Configure Windows. Once Windows has been installed, you will need to configure it.
This includes setting up user accounts, installing drivers, and installing software.
Here are some additional tips for installing Windows in a virtual machine:
Make sure that your computer meets the system requirements for Windows.
If you are using a 64-bit version of Windows, make sure that your virtual machine is also 64-
bit.
You can increase the performance of your virtual machine by allocating more memory and
storage.
You can also improve the performance of your virtual machine by using a faster processor
and a better graphics card.
