What’s More
Activity 1: Explore Your Analytical Mind
Direction: Answer the questions based on what you just read.

1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of having greenhouse gases in the
atmosphere?
Answer: Greenhouse gases maintain our world habitable by retaining part of the
Earth's thermal energy and preventing it from escaping into space. The
greenhouse effect is the result of this heat trapping. The greenhouse effect serves
to keep the Earth's surface at a constant temperature, keeping it livable for living
things. The world is warm enough to support life thanks to greenhouse gases.

2. How does global warming and climate change affect human and environment?
Answer: Climate change has far-reaching consequences for humanity, including
health, the environment, relocation and migrations, safety, society, human
habitation, power, and transportation. Global warming has altered the Earth's
geological, biological, and ecological processes in potentially irreversible ways.

3. How do OFWs help to improve the economic status of the Philippines?

Answer: OFW contributions are helping to bridge the gap between the rich and the
poor by supporting a burgeoning middle class. Production of goods and services
rises as living circumstances improve and expendable income rises, propelling
the economy ahead.

4. What are the pros and cons of being an OFW in relation to social stratification and
inequality?
Answer:
Pros- Make a lot of money. The majority of Filipinos prefer to work as OFWs because
they know they would be paid more than they would if they worked in the Philippines.
And this is frequently the case, especially when the foreign currency rate is taken into
account. More money in your pocket means more money for your family, which means a
better life for you and your loved ones.
Cons- Earnings pressure Filipinos have a strong belief that working as an OFW entails
making a lot of money. This is a common misunderstanding, as we addressed, however,
with other people's expectations surrounding you, you're likely to feel pressured to earn
as much as possible throughout your time as an OFW.
