 Prophet Nathan prophesied that God would make David’s descendant to rule over Israel
forever, this is fulfilled when angle Gabriel told Mary during the annunciations that the
Lord will give him the thrown of his father David and he will reign over the house of Jacob
forever.

 The Old Testament prophecies that the Messiah would be born in the lineage of David is
fulfilled when angle Gabriel was sent to a young woman Mary, who was betrothed to
Joseph who was a descendant of David.
 Prophet Isaiah prophesied that a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, this is fulfilled when
an angle was sent to Mary a young woman. The angle told Mary that she will conceive by
the power of the Holy Spirit.
 The Psalmist prophecied that the Messiah would be betrayed by a closest friend. This was
fulfilled when Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot.
 Prophet Micah prophecied that the Messiah will be born in Bethlehem, the small town of
Judah. This is fulfilled when Jesus is Born in Bethlehem the town of David
 Prophet Isaiah prophecied that the Messiah would perform miracles. This is fulfilled during
Jesus ministry in Nazareth when He performed miracles such as raising the dead.
 Prophet Isaiah prophecied that the Messiah would bring salvation to the whole word; this is
fulfilled in Simeon’s prophecy during the dedication when he said he had seen the
salvation which God had prepared for his people. (Luke 2 : 29 – 32)
5. Describe the annunciation of the birth of john the Baptist to Zachariah. (luke 1:5
– 25) (6mks)
 Zachariah was performing his priestly duties at the temple.
 He had gone to burn incense inside the temple as other worshippers were praying outside.
 An angle of God appeared to him standing at the right hand side of the alter.
 He felt frightened and scared but the angle reassured him that he had Good news.
 He told Zachariah that God had heard his prayers and would bless him with a son to be
named john meaning God is gracious.
 The child will be a source of joy and delight to Zachariah and many would rejoice at his
birth.
 The angle revealed about the nature of the child ie he will be great in the sight of the Lord.
 Zachariah could not believe because they were advanced in years.
 Angel Gabriel told him that he would remain dumb because of his unbelief until the child is
born.
 The people who were waiting outside were wondering why he took long in the temple.
 When he came out he could not speak to them which made them to realize that he had
seen a vision.
6. Outline four preaching’s of John the Baptist. Luke 3: 1- 20) (4mks)
 He preached baptism and repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
 He warned people of God’s coming judgment.
 He announced the coming of the Messiah as a judge.
 He preached on social justice.
 The soldiers should not oppress the weak by falsely accusing and robbing them.
 He preached about sharing to endure the needy were catered for.
 He condemned the immoral behavior of king Herod.
7. Give reasons why Jesus accepted to be baptized and yet He was sinless. (6mks)
 He wanted to identify himself with the sinful.
 He wanted to approve john’s ministry.
 Baptism strengthened Jesus to face the hard tasks.
 The voice from heaven affirmed Him as the son of God.
 It was a way of fulfilling the Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah.

 Baptism introduced Jesus to the people whom He was to minister to.
 He saw it as God’s plan of saving mankind.
 It was final assurance from God before he began his work.
 The baptism was an opportunity for the manifestation of the Holy Trinity.

 Drug and substance abuse.
 Lack of finances may lead them into prostitution.
 Desire for pre marital sex.
 Temptation to abort due to unwanted pregnancy.

 Desire to improve on their look.

9. Outline reasons why Jesus was rejected at Nazareth, His home town. (luke 4: 16
– 30) (6mks)
 He told them that forefathers had rejected God’s prophets by persecuting them.
 They wanted Him to prove his Lordship by performing miracles which He did not.
 Jesus told them that the prophecies of Isaiah had been fulfilled in Him and that He is the
Messiah.
 They taught He was simply the son of Joseph the carpenter whom they knew.
 He told them how God favoured even the Gentiles and did not Jews alone, He would even
work the miracles for the Gentiles and leave them alone.
 He told them that a prophet is not welcomed in His home town.
10. Relate the healing of the man with an evil spirit. (Luke 4: 31- 37) (6mks)
 Jesus was teaching in the synagogue on a Sabbath.
 People were astonished because He spoke with authority.
 There was a man with a demon in the synagogue.
 There was a man with a demon in the synagogue.
 The man cried out loudly “ah what have you to do with us Jesus of Nazareth? Have you
come to destroy us? I know you are the Holy one of God”.
 Jesus rebuked the demon saying be silent and come out of Him.
 The demon came out of the man having thrown him down but causing him no harm.
 The people were amazed at His word and power.
 Report about Jesus went out into every surrounding region.
11. State the lessons Christians learns from the call of the first disciple.
(6mks)
 Christians learn to commit their lives to Jesus and follow Him.
 Christian learns to have faith of Simon who readily obeyed the words of Jesus and he
casted the net and made a huge catch.
 Christians should not be discouraged even if they preach the good news and no one is
converted.
 Christians learn to repent their sins like Simon Knelt at the feet of Jesus and acknowledged
his sinful nature.
 Christians learn to turn to Jesus always when they are discouraged in life when after toiling
in vain.
 Christians learn to work as a team just like the three disciples.

 Christian =s learn to trust in God just like Simon trusted the words of Jesus and put the
nets into deep water after they had caught nothing the whole night.
 Christians learn to renounce their family ties and other occupations which may hinder
them from following Jesus just like the first disciples left everything and followed Jesus.
12.State the teachings of Jesus on the qualities of a true discipleship from the
sermon on the plain. (6mks)
 Perseverance in the face of persecution.
 Unwavering faith in Jesus those who trust in God would receive reward.
 Love for enemies and showing mercy.
 Obedience to Jesus teaching so as to accept the leadership of Jesus.
 The disciples were expected to bear good fruits.
 They were to be generous those who have were expected to share with those who do not.
 They should forgive others.
 They were expected to exercise self critism.
