I’M MIKE BAUSCH,
I created the UNSLICED RESTAURANT SYSTEM for high-level restaurant
owners who want to fast-track their operations based on the things I
have proven to work with for my restaurant group, Andolini’s
Worldwide, and 20 years as an owner, making 8-figure revenue each
year.

This checklist is a real SOP I have used and created over the years. It’s
only one of many. Use It and see how it works to get the basics of
digital marketing for a restaurant.

I’m not a marketing guy; I’m a restaurant owner. That means I need to
know finance, vision, employees, retention, negotiations, and also
marketing.

Because I have to be all these things, I learn how to do things quickly,


and effectively and then delegate It once I learn It and can lock It In.

GOOGLE MY
BUSINESS (GMB)
Let Google Work for You
Claim Your (GMB) Listing:
Doing This ensures you can update and control information about
your restaurant. Easy first step, but It’s crucial to gaming Google.

Deep Dive For Accuracy:


Verify that the name of your business, location, hours, and contact
information are correct. Then deep dive on every other detail as well.

Enable/Disable "Order Online":


If you wish to offer this feature, ensure that the "Order Online" option is
activated in your GMB settings AND it directs to the links you want, not
what google chose for you.

Respond to Reviews:
Publicly respond to both positive and negative reviews. This tells Google
you are active and helps your search results.

Performance Analysis:
Visit the performance tab on GMB to identify keywords people are using
to find you. Make sure these words are part of the text on your website
for SEO.

DOMAIN & BRANDING
Own your online presence
Brand-URL Consistency:
Restaurant name aligns with website URL. (e.g., New York Burgers should not have a
URL like Supaburger.com)

Mobile-Friendly:
Website is accessible and looks good on mobile devices.

Highlighted "Start Your Order":


Place a super focal, highlighted button that says "Start Your Order" as opposed to
just "Order Online."

Email Popup:
Implement a pop-up box offering a freebie for visitors who enter their email
addresses. This feeds your whole marketing engine, don’t rely solely on those who
process an order to get their email.

Quality Photography:
Use professionally-taken, zoomed-out photos for every single item on your menu,
even down to ranch dressing and two-liters. Use a uniform background like a wood
table. Crop later.

Built With:
Choose between WordPress, Shopify, or specialized platforms like Toast Pro for
website development. With headers like Include 'Locations', 'Catering', and 'Join Our
Team' in the header. Optionally add, 'Our Story', 'Fundraising', 'Press', 'Merch'. Avoid
cliche’s or anything superfluous.

SEO Keywords:
Insert words that people are using to find you on Google (from your GMB
performance tab) in the text on your homepage for SEO. If you can’t copy the words
and paste It, Its not scannable text.

SOCIAL MEDIA TO
INCREASE REVENUE
Let social media take shape
for you restaurant
Platform Selection:
Prioritize platforms where your restaurant shines—usually Instagram for
visuals or Facebook for community engagement. If Twitter / X is not
pulling its weight, skip it. Start mastering one platform before
expanding.

Content & Branding:


Two authentic posts per week beat daily corporate jargon. Ideally post
twice a day though with upbeat info-tainment. Be Real; do quick takes.
Perfection is not your friend, but consistency and authenticity with
personality are.

Direct Order Link:


Maximize conversions by putting a 'Place Your Order' link at the top of
your social profile. Send them straight to the order page.

Logo Design:
Make it snappy. Use symbol logos over word-based ones for social
profiles. Canva's your friend if a pro designer isn't in the budget.

EMAIL STRATEGY TO
RETAIN CUSTOMERS
Email is still king. Let it do
the work on auto pilot
Automated & Drip Campaigns:
Implement automated email sequences to engage customers at different
stages—e.g., welcome emails, re-engagement campaigns, or post-purchase
follow-ups. These should be set to 'drip' out based on specific time intervals of
what macro points you want to convey. Ethos, Items, did you know factoids,
catering, etc.

Quick, Visual Updates:


Say no to digital novels, I.e., newsletters. A single, captivating image and a
one-liner can say more than a page of text.

Update and Pivot:


Based on Engagement: Track metrics such as email open rates and total sales
to tailor future emails. Use this data to refine your plan, if it fails, try something
new, if it hits, keep hitting it til it stops working.

Email Often:
Emails cost you nearly nothing compared to most media. And it’s a warm and
ready audience. The days of 2 emails max a week are done; go for 2 emails
minimum, or as many as 5, and watch the revenue increase. Schedule to send
at 10 am for the highest likely return.

ONLINE ORDERING
Your digital front door must
look inviting to create revenue
User-Friendly Design:
Nobody wants to work to give you money. Make your ordering platform a
straight line with minimal clicks and pages.

PHOTOS PHOTOS PHOTOS:


Worth repeating, if its on your website, it has a photo, for every item on you
menu down to sauces and drinks, real photos taken on site as
professionally as possible.

Payment Options:
Cash, card, apple or google pay—make it easy for them to pay you.
Confirmation Mechanism:

Ambiguity is the Enemy:


Send a confirmation screen and an email to reassure them the order is on
its way.

3rd Party to 1st Party:


Use exclusive deals and promo inserts in 3rd party to go orders to convert
third-party app users to first-party orders on your website.
