Review worksheet - Unit 12.2 and Unit 13

Unit 12
12.2 Proportion
1. A machine makes 400 parts in 5 hours.
How many parts will it make in 1 hour? 80 parts
parts : hours
400 : 5
÷5
80 : 1
2. Three erasers have the same length as 1 pencil.

How many pencils have the same length as 18 erasers? 6 pencils

pencils : erasers
1 : 3
x6 x6
6 : 18

3. This is a recipe for pancakes for 8 people.

Write the quantities needed:
a. for 16 people:
200g flour 4 eggs 600 ml milk

b. for 4 people:

50g flour 1 egg 150 ml milk

c. For 9 people:

150 g flour 3 eggs 450 ml milk
4. Kirsty plants red and white flowers in the ratio 5 : 3 in her garden.
She plants 15 red flowers.
How many white flowers does she plant? 9 white flowers
Red : White
5 : 3
x3 x3
15 : 9
5. Here is a rectangle A.

(not drawn to scale)

Rectangle A is enlarged to make rectangles B and C.

The ratio of the lengths of A:B:C is 1:3:5

Complete the table.

Width in cm Length in cm Perimeter in cm

A 3 8 22

B 9 24 66

C 15 40 110

6. Here are two equilateral triangles.

The ratio of the length of the sides of the large equilateral triangle
to the small equilateral triangle is 4 : 1
How long is each side of the larger triangle? Big : small
4 : 1
x2 x2
8 : 2

Unit 13
13.1 Measuring and drawing angles

1. Measure the size of each of these angles.

a = 35° b = 115°

c = 240° d = 310°
2. Draw angles of the following sizes.
a. 10 ° b 160 °
c. 205° d 352°

3. The diagram shows angles x, y and z on a straight line.

a. Measure and write down the sizes of angles x, y and z.

x = 33° y = 93° z = 54°

b. Show how to check your answers to part a are correct.

x + y + z must add up to 180°
4. Calculate the missing angle:

90 – 29 = 61° 180 - 47 = 133°

90 – 63 = 27° 180 – (62 + 82)

180 – 144 = 36°
13.2 Angles in a triangle

1. Work out angle x in each of these triangles.

a. b

180 – (85 + 35) 180 – (122 + 28)

180 – 120 = 60° 180 – 150 = 30°
d.
c.

90 – 62 = 28° 90 – 40 = 50°

2. Work out angle x in each of these isosceles triangles.

a. b.

180 – (22 + 22) x + x +80 = 180

180 – 44 = 136° 2x + 80 = 180
2x + 80 – 80 = 180 – 80
2x = 100
2x = 100
2 2
x= 50°

c. d.

180 - (70 + 70)

180 - 140 = 40°

180 - (72 + 72)

180 - 144 = 36°
3. The diagram shows the roof of Tom’s house.

Tom works out that angle p is 40 °.

Is Tom correct? Explain your answer and show your working.
Tom is not correct because the triangle is isosceles and one angle is 90°, so the other two
angles must be same (90 ÷ 2 = 45°), not 40°
4.Find the missing angle:

Inside angle R = 180 - (70 +60) y = 180 – (60 +58)

180 – 130 =50° 180 – 118 = 62°
RULE: (Angles in a triangle = 180°) RULE: (Angles in a triangle = 180°)
Outside angle R = 180 – 50 =130° x= 180 – 58 =122°
RULE: (angles on a straight line = 180°) RULE: (angles on a straight line = 180°)

Inside blank angle = 180 – 105 = 75° Inside blank angle = 180 – 125 = 55°
RULE: (angles on a straight line = 180°) RULE: (angles on a straight line = 180°)
? = 180 – (75 + 65) a = 180 – (70 + 55)
180 – 140 = 40° 180 – 125 = 55°
RULE: (Angles in a triangle = 180°) RULE: (Angles in a triangle = 180°)
