Explanation

Series Completion:
Series completion section deals with questions in which series of
numbers or alphabetical letters are given, which are generally called as
terms of the series. These terms follow a certain pattern throughout.
The candidate is required to recognize this pattern and either complete
the given series with the most suitable alternative or nd wrong in the
series.
Example: 589654237, 89654237, 8965423, 965423, ?
Option: A. 58965 B. 65423 C. 89654 D. 96542
Answer: D
Explanation: The digits are removed one by one from the beginning and
the end in order alternately so as to obtain the subsequent terms of the
series.
Inserting the missing character:
In such type of questions, a gure, a set of gures or a matrix is given,
each of which bears certain characters, be it numbers, letters or a group of
letters / numbers. Following a certain pattern. The candidate is required
to decipher this pattern and accordingly nd the missing character in the
gure.

Example: In the following question, a matrix of certain characters is
given. These characters follow a certain trend, row-wise or column-wise.
Find out this trend and choose the missing character accordingly.

Explanation:
In the rst column, 12 x 6 = 72; 18 ÷ 6 = 3.

So, missing number = 24 ÷ 8 = 3.

Alpha-Numeric Sequence Puzzle


In Alpha numeric sequence puzzle, a mix up sentence consisting of some
letters, numbers and symbols are given followed by some certain
questions based on it.

Based on following types, questions are categorized:


Ø Satisfying certain conditions in the given sequence, it is required to
nd elements(letters, numbers or symbols.
Ø At a certain given relative position in the sequence, it is need to
determine the element.
Ø By converting the hidden part in relation to the position of the
elements in the sequence, it is required to complete a series consisting
of terms formed by a combination of the elements of the sequence.
Ø By nding the common property which other combinations share as
per their positions in the given sequence, It is required to nd the odd
combination from among a given set of combinations of elements.
Ø To determine the analogical relationship between a given pair of
combination of elements, later nd a combination which carry same
relationship with another given combination.

Number, Ranking and Time sequence Test


Number Test: In a number test, a sequence of numbers is given and a
question is asked in that way as asked in Alpha-Numeric Sequence
Puzzle.

Ranking Test: In a ranking test, usually the ranks of one or two persons
from the top and from the bottom are mentioned. A candidate is required
to compute either total number of persons or rank of a particular person.

Logical Sequence of words


In each of the following questions, arrange the given words in a
meaningful sequence and thus nd the correct answer from alternatives.
A candidate is required to identify this relationship or sequence and to
put them in a logical sequence. This question may be according to size,
age, happening, need etc.

Alphabet Test
In this type, the question asked are based on nding the place of an
English the place of an English letter to the left or right of another English
letter in the alphabetical order.

To solve time based problems the following in formations are very
useful.
Ø 1 century = 100 years
Ø There are 29 days in February of a leap year.
Ø In every one hour, the hour hand rotates 30 degree and minute hand
rotates 360 degree.

Leap Year −
Those years which are completely divisible by 4 are known as leap years
and they contain normally 366 days.
Thus years like 2000, 2016, and 1996 are leap years whereas 1997, 2001,
2003 are not.
Some other important notes that you should know−
Ø Before 1 AD there was no 0 AD instead there was 1 BC.
Ø Therefore total number of years between a given AD and BC is the
addition of two years followed by subtraction with 1.
Ø Weekdays refer to any day in a week except Sunday.
