CLASS-VIII ENGLISH GRAMMAR

COMPOSITION PART
DIARY WRITING

1. You have had an argument with your parents and are very upset. You wish you had a time machine to go far away
somewhere. Write a diary entry describing.

Date & Day Time:___

Dear Diary

Today has been really tough. I had a huge argument with my parents about my future plans. They want me to follow a
traditional career path, but I have dreams of pursuing a career in the arts. Our heated discussion left me feeling
frustrated and misunderstood. I know they care about me and want what's best, but it feels like they don't see or value
my passion.
Right now, I feel hurt and alone. I wish they could understand my perspective and support my dreams. If I had a time
machine, I would travel far away to a place where I could freely explore my interests without judgment. Maybe I'd
visit the future where I've achieved my dreams and show them that my path can lead to success and happiness too.
For now, I just need some time to cool down and think about how to communicate my feelings more effectively.

Q2. You have been selected for the school basketball team. It is especially significant as you had been trying for a
couple of years for this but have achieved it now. Write a short diary entry on how you feel to have realized your goal.

Date & Day Time:___

Dear Diary

I can hardly believe it—I’ve finally been selected for the school basketball team! This moment feels surreal, especially
since I’ve been trying for the past couple of years. The hard work, countless hours of practice, and the
disappointments along the way have all led to this incredible achievement.
I remember how devastated I felt each time I didn’t make the team, but I never gave up. Each setback only made me
more determined to improve and prove myself. Today, when I saw my name on the list, I felt an overwhelming sense
of joy and accomplishment. All my efforts have finally paid off.
This achievement means so much to me, not just because I love basketball, but also because it’s a testament to
perseverance and hard work. I’m so excited to be part of the team and can’t wait to contribute and grow with my
teammates. This is just the beginning of an amazing journey.

Q3. You have been planning a surprise birthday party for your best friend. However, it has been very difficult to keep
your plans secret from her and you think she may have figured out what is going on. Write a diary entry on why you
have this feeling and what you intend to do about it.

Date & Day Time:___

Dear Diary

Planning a surprise birthday party for my best friend has been exciting but incredibly challenging. I’ve been trying so
hard to keep everything under wraps, but I’m starting to think she might have figured it out. She’s been asking a lot of
questions lately, and I’ve caught her giving me those knowing looks. She even mentioned how quiet I’ve been about
our weekend plans, which makes me suspect she’s onto something.
I feel a bit disappointed that the surprise might be spoiled, but I’m determined to make the party special regardless. To
throw her off, I’ll act more relaxed and casually mention a fake plan for her birthday. This might help maintain the
element of surprise.
Even if she has her suspicions, I know she’ll appreciate the effort and thought I’ve put into making her day
unforgettable. I just hope she’ll still be surprised and happy when the moment comes.

Dear Diary

Today was the most memorable day of my life. You know whom I met today? Guess who?? My favorite author
Ruskin Bond. Yes, while I was traveling from Dehradun to Delhi back home in train, I met him. And, he was sitting
just beside me on the train. The journey became special to me. I introduced myself to him. And luckily, I had a book
authored by him with me 'Blue Umbrella' (you know that I cannot travel without a book or two in my bag GIGGLE). I
asked him what inspired him to be a writer and told him my desire of becoming a writer. He shared some of his
wisdom from writing with me. And I am going to keep those wise words in my mind.He autographed the book for me
also.

heavily. I ran and ran to my house. Finally, I reached my house and I told my mother about what happened with me

Dear Diary

Today was a truly unforgettable day. I had the opportunity to witness a tabla recital by Ustad Zakir Hussain and it was
an experience like no other. The skill and precision with which he played was truly mesmerizing. The way he was able
to create such beautiful and intricate rhythms and melodies on the tabla was nothing short of astounding.
I was filled with a sense of awe and wonder as I listened to his performance. The music transported me to another
world and I felt fully immersed in the experience. The passion and dedication that Ustad Zakir Hussain put into his
playing was palpable and it was clear that he was truly in the moment, lost in the music.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the chance to see such a talented and accomplished musician perform live. It
was truly an unforgettable experience and one that I will treasure forever.
