1. I learned that in Action Research it is really significant to identify the possible problems that you want to
addressed and internet to find solutions to the specific problem that observed. It is one of a way which can
helps the teachers to study their practices to solve their personal or professional practical problems that they
encounter many circumstances, this action research can be focused on any simple or complex problem that
they observed or sometimes they really experience from their day to day life as a teacher and they will study
study this action research and try to think possible solutions to overcome or makes an effective way or
solutions.
2. I realized that as a future teacher it is really significant to have a knowledge and experience making an
action research because through this way as a educator I can develop and improve more my knowledge and
understanding in many things that will contributes in shaping who I am someday. And conducting action
research can be challenging yet it will bring a numerous benefits, in the process the teacher that will conduct
and solve the action research can learn more aside from the problem that being targeted, and the action
research that will be conducted will not only benefits the teacher who created the action research but it will
also become useful to the students, teachers, school, and to the community to have references and gain
knowledge about action research.
In the classroom of Ma'am Reiza my resource teacher, I observed that students have difficult time in reading
comprehension especially in English since my resource teacher teach Personal Development, when there's a time
that I was helping my resource teacher in managing the class, I had a hard time keeping the students focus on the
discussion and makes them understand what is being discussed because some of them are not really good in
reading comprehension especially on the class of grade 11 automotive which consist of all boys I observed that it
is really difficult to teach them since they are more focus on skills and it set on their mind that they need to focus
more in skills instead of reading comprehension based on what they say when I asked them.
Since the problem is about on reading comprehension of the students, I noticed that it is really effective that as
a teacher it is our responsibilities to makes our students understand and explain to them a situation, so the
possible solution that I think to help improve the reading comprehension of the students are the teacher should
explain to the students the importance of reading comprehension, second think and apply strategies and
techniques that will help to develop and improves the reading comprehension of the learners and lastly make them
realize the importance of improving their reading comprehension not just to past their subjects but the importance
of these to their day to day life.
As a future action researcher I can plan for an appropriate intervention like constructing methods and
strategies to addressed the problem, understanding the students learning styles, their strengths and weaknesses
to distinguish the possible strategies that going to apply that will help them to improves their reading
comprehension. After that I will create activities that will enhance and develop the reading comprehension of each
students and makes some assessment to evaluate the students progress so that the teacher will know the next
step to do to help the students learning development.

This action research project was conducted t improve reading comprehension with second
grade and third grade students. The teacher researchers intended to improve reading
comprehension by using higher order thinking skills such as predicting, making connections,
visualizing, inferring, questioning and summarizing. In their classrooms the teacher researchers
modeled these strategies through the think-aloud process and graphic organizers. This was followed
by students using these strategies through the whole class, small group, and independent practices.
The teacher researchers gathered information prior to implementing the reading strategy
interventions, the metacomprehension strategy index indicated a lack of students knowledge of
strategies to use before, during and after reading. The State snapshots of early literacy given to the
second grade students identified 9 of the 16 students target level. The Test Ready Test given to the
third grade students indicated 10 of the 17 students were at risk for reading comprehension failures.
The informations gathered by the teacher researchers after the interventions had been modeled
an practice showed improvement with the second and third grade students. The post intervention
scores for the Metacomprehension strategy index showed a significant increase in student's
knowledge of the reading comprehension strategies. The State snapshot of early literacy is
intervention scores indicated only 6 of the 16 second grade students remained below target level for
reading comprehension. The Test Ready Test given to third grade students indicated only 2 of the 16
students had post intervention scores that were at risk for reading comprehension failures.

be able to comprehend the material/s they read. Both the authors want to make their
students become lifelong learners.
PLAN The study/action research can be identified as quantitative research. Based on this AR, the
plan is doable within the given time and is convenient to both the researchers since they
work together in one workplace.

learner's corners board display wherein it contains the information of the students outputs,

not enough learning materials or aids are in the classroom or in the online learning environment, effective and
meaningful learning will not be achieved, in the children's own homes, learning can be hindered when they only

The common problem that I noticed in the face to face learning environment is the student's attitude and
behaviors, as I am assisting in the senior high school students, I have seen that even they are already matured
there are still students who have various misbehaviors of the students. I once had a difficulty in handling the
students attitudes because they were very noisy and you need to repeat and always remind the students to
manage their behavior and act according to their age and grade level. I observed that there were students
standing or walking around the classroom, some were using their cellphones during the discussion and even
also there was an instance where some students I caught cheating during an quizzes or exams, Even the
teachers called their attention and warning them there are still circumstances that they repeat these kind of
cheating and sometimes they behave that they could hear nor see the teacher.

misbehaviors of the students inside the class. I will also research to different websites about various

3. Comprehension - This students in the senior high school are still have difficulty in reading and reading
comprehension that's why the school have also separate teacher for reading comprehension to improve the
students comprehension every sem the teachers report the students who have difficult in reading
comprehension.
4. Budget - The teachers, especially in the public school have only limited budget when when it comes to
purchasing learning resources/materials which come to the point that the teachers use their own money to
buy instructional materials and classroom needs.
5. Behaviors - This is one of the most problem that teacher encounter in every classroom because students
have different personalities or behaviors in which makes the teacher have difficult time on handling the
students which affect the delivery of lesson and atmosphere inside the classroom.

As a future teacher those scenarios that mentioned above is serves as samples and reference for me or
guide when I will encounter a circumstances like that . With the knowledge of the identified problematic
situations of the scenarios alone, Through this way a become aware on the possible issues or problem that I
may encounter in my class once I become a professional teacher someday. Additionally, through this
scenarios I can practice my skill that need in conducting an action research. With the given scenarios, I can

Observe
I observed that the problematic situations that prevail in the classroom is the differing support that the
children get in their own homes. There really are families who cannot support and guide their child's learning
which is really one of the factors why students have difficult time in learning and does not meet the effective
learning because the lessons that being discussed are not reinforce at home or parent ate lack on support on
students study. They are rarely asked the learning progress of their child and never attended in school
programs or meeting which is contributes on students learning development.
Reflect
As a teacher, I will conduct a meeting or pta meeting to inform the student's parents or guardians about
the learning progress of their child and makes them understand that reinforcement is really important to be
done also at home and if they will not attend I will conduct a home visit so that they can still updated and
remind them that attending the meeting for their child is important and checking their child learning is
significant for students development. Learning does not only and should not only happen in the four corner of
classroom because learning is start at home and the parents or guardians are the first teacher that would
teach the children before their attend to school. I would like to encourage them to guide their children at
home or if possible, tutoring/peer tutoring can be facilitated in their homes guided by an adults so that the
students will have a effective learning process.
Plan
I think the possible strategies that I will able to able in this problem is through conducting PTA's to discuss
the needs of the children will help in improving the situation. And also in the meeting, students development,
behaviors, strategies, learning resources and approaches can be discuss which help the parents or guardians
to understand how they can academically support their children.

Abstract
This action research project was conducted to improve reading comprehension with second and third grade
students. The teacher researchers intended to improve the reading comprehension by using higher order
thinking skills such as predicting, making connections, visualizing, inferring, questioning and summarizing. In
their classroom, the teacher researchers modeled these strategies through the think aloud the process and
graphic organizers. This was followed by students using these strategies through the whole class, small
group, and independent practice.
The teacher researchers gathered information prior to implementing the reading strategy intervention. The
metacomprehension strategy index indicated a lack of students knowledge of strategies to use before, during
and after reading. The State Snapchat or Early Literacy given to the second grade students identified 9 out of 6
students below target level. The Test Ready Test given to the third grade students indicated 10 out of the 17
students were at risk for reading comprehension failures.
The intervention gathered by the teacher researchers after the intervention had been modeled and practiced
showed improvement with the second and third grade students. The post intervention scores for the
metacomprehension strategy index showed the significant increase in student's knowledge is the reading
comprehension strategies. The State Snapchat of Early Literacy post intervention scores indicated only 6 out
of the 16 second grade students remained below target level for reading comprehension. The Test Ready Test
given to third grade students indicated only 2 of the 16 students had post intervention scores that were at risk
die reading comprehension failures.
The teacher researchers have seen children in the second and third grade experience difficulty with the
process of reading comprehension which causes them great concern as educators

practice if the six comprehension strategies, predicting, making connections, visualizing, inferring, questioning,
and summarizing. Three different tools were used by the teacher researchers to assess the changes in their

check if the students have understand the lessons well. I also discovered that giving topics for visual reporting
to the students is effective to prompt them to study and participate well during the discussion
2. AS what I've witnessed during the virtual class, the students shown their active participation in the lesson by
answering directly the questions thrown to them by their own teachers. They also participate by strictly
following the instructions on their teachers when it comes to showing them how things work out through
opening their camera and showing to the teachers if what they're doing is correct and if they follow and
understand the lesson.
1. As a future teacher I feel that online learning environment is safe if we provide or set restrictions for when
or if a student can be on social media along with what they are not allowed or not allowed to post. It also
important to establish rules, collaborate with students to develop a group agreement that steps the
parameters for class discussions and encourage parental involvement to be able to create a safe and healthy
online learning environment.
2. I think that teaching in a virtual learning environment is a challenging one. Why? Because many students or
families in our area dont' have the financial capability to provide their own the resources that is essentially
needed when attending an online virtual class. Many students also have no stable internet connection, in our
community which is a hindrances that may disrupt/distract students learning ad development. But it is also
interesting and exciting because I know that I can able to present lesson plans using variety of software apps
and online toools which is also useful and effective in teaching learning process.

OBSERVE
The problems brought by the on-line learning environment that I've observe is the internet connectivity and
some students don't have stable internet connection and that can greatly affect their learning experience
since teachers discussed the full lesson virtually.
REFLECT
I think that this problem need immediate actions. One way to solve this problem is providing physical learning
materials to students for them to still study on their own if they were not able to grasp the lesson discussed
due to unstable connection. In addition, the instructor employs appropriate innovation which help the students
in understanding the lessons, equips students with the knowledge and skills thwy will need to develop secure
online habits in the future, and also it also teaches the students how to use the internet responsibly and
ethically, which can help them stay safe even they are not doing schoolworks.
PLAN
My plan to address this problem is to make a learning of s topic that's designated to a certain week. After that
give it off or distribute them to students who need the reading materials for them to still cope up with the
discussed lessons even if they have Internet trouble.
