INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES;
 This test consists of one practical question.
 Answer fully all the sub questions for full marks.
 Do not write anywhere on this question paper.
 All dimensions on the drawings are in millimeters unless stated otherwise
 Create a folder on the desktop in your name and registration number where you should save all
your work before being picked by the examiner at the end of the exam. All your work MUST be
saved in this folder.
 Do not leave the examination room until you are instructed to do so.
Question one

The figure shows a proposed ground plan and elevations of a gateman’s house at your college. With all

units being in millimeters, Study it carefully and respond to the following questions.

a) Create a folder on the desktop in ‘your name and registration number’, then open the AutoCAD

application and save your file as your name and registration number (02 marks)

b) With suitable layer properties, Create at least five layers in your drawing including; wall lines,

dimension, hatches, openings and text (06 marks)

c) Using AutoCAD application, reproduce the ground plan as shown ensuring that the dimensions are

correct for all dimensions using appropriate settings. (30 marks)

d) Using appropriate settings, show all dimensions on the ground plan (10 marks)

e) Using the ground plan, project a front elevation to suitable dimensions and hatch the roof with an

appropriate pattern (40 marks)

f) Create a title block of your drawing indicating your institution’s name, your name, registration

number, course, date and scale (10

marks)

g) Plot a drawing to the PDF and save it in the folder that was created in (a) above using a file name as,

your name and registration number. (02 marks)
