1 Perform power disconnect of high-voltage on- AR54.10-P-1150LF
board electrical system.

2 Remove front cover. AR01.30-P-5711LFH
3 Remove engine wiring harness at cylinder AR01.00-P-2410-02LFH
head cover (1).
4 Remove rail. AR07.03-P-1010LFH
5 Remove the vacuum pump. AR43.05-P-1320LFH
6 Remove ignition coils. AR15.12-P-2003LFB
7 Remove control unit bracket of ME-SFI [ME] AR07.08-P-7008LFH
control unit.
8 Loosen screw/bolts (1s) for cylinder head Bolt tightening procedure for cylinder head AR01.20-P-5014-03MMA
cover (1) in the reverse order of the tightening cover
procedure and remove them.
Installation: Replace screw/bolts (1s) with
new ones.
Screw/bolt, cylinder head cover to cylinder *BA01.20-P-1004-01L
head
9 Carefully pry off cylinder head cover (1) from
cylinder head (2) and remove.

Notes on sealant path for cylinder head cover AH01.30-P-1000-08MM

Do not hammer in a tool to pry off between


cylinder head cover (1) and cylinder head (2).
The sealing surfaces can be damaged
otherwise.
Installation: Apply sealant to cylinder
head cover (1).
Installation: Check for correct seating of
the cap of the exhaust camshaft between
cylinder head cover (1) and cylinder head (2).
Sealant, Loctite 5970, 50 ml *BR00.45-Z-1013-01A

Check
10 Check camshaft mounts in the cylinder head
cover (1) and check camshafts for galling and
score marks.
General information on checking camshafts AH05.20-P-1000-09SZ
and bearing points of camshafts
Clean
11 Clean sealing surfaces at cylinder head (2) AR01.00-P-0050-01A
and cylinder head cover (1).

Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive


paper.
The sealing surfaces can be damaged
otherwise.
Loctite 7063 (400 ml) cleaning spray *BR00.45-Z-1046-04A
Loctite 7200 *BR00.45-Z-1038-04A
12 Install in the reverse order.
