IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MATATAG K TO 10 CURRICULUM
II. Objective(s): At the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- identify the various aspects of malnutrition, including underweight, overweight/obesity,
micronutrient deficiencies, and eating disorders.
- demonstrate teamwork skills through group discussions and completing tasks together.
- cultivate a sense of responsibility towards maintaining a healthy weight.
IV. Instructions:
Introduction
The goal of this activity is to gain a deeper understanding and personal assessment of the varied
health concerns experienced by adolescents. Students will reflect, assess and share this health
inventory to the class.
Team Formation:
1. Form small teams with your classmates. Each team should have a mix of individuals to
encourage diverse perspectives.
2. Your teacher will provide your team the clue cards. This clue will guide you to a specific
location where you'll find valuable information about malnutrition.
Clue Cards:
Cafeteria Clue:
Task: Make a visit to the school cafeteria and find a menu item that promotes a balanced diet.
Take note of the nutritional content and share it with your team.
Interview Clue:
Task: Approach a staff member, or health teacher such as a school nurse or nutritionist, and
ask for tips on maintaining a healthy weight. Record their advice and discuss how it aligns with
your team's understanding.
Instructions:
1. In each location, read and discuss information about malnutrition with your team to gain
a comprehensive understanding.
2. After exploring each location, answer the question or perform the task related to your
gathered information. This adds a practical dimension to your learning.
3. After completing a clue, move to the following location as a team. Keep the energy high and
explore all clues to gain a comprehensive understanding.
4. Emphasize collaboration and discussion within your team. Share your insights and listen
to your teammates to enrich the learning experience.
5. Once all clues have been explored, your teacher will gather all teams for a brief review
session.

1. Each of you will get sticky notes or index cards.
Writing Action Plans:
1. Based on the discussion and dietary guidelines, write down actions you can take to
prevent nutritional concerns.
2. Let your creativity shine! Personalize your action plans with your unique ideas.

need to engage in a short exercise routine, such as a family walk or a fun workout, to promote
physical activity.
Scenario 4: Screen Time Balancing Act: A teenager is managing their screen time. They need
to strike a balance between screen activities and physical activities, ensuring a healthy mix for
overall well-being.
Note: Actively participate, be creative, and reflect on the practical applications of preventive
