Contract of Employment-Waiter
1. 0 JOB PURPOSE:
To deliver friendly and efficient service; to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for
all our customers and ensure they have a great experience; our waiters/waitress are
attentive to our customers’ needs and preferences, make recommendations and serve drinks
and food accurately and efficiently according to Mango Lodge standards; at all times
waiters are expected to make our customers feel welcome, important and relaxed.
2.1. Contribute to meeting the high standards of our customer care offered by Mango Lodge
2.2. During service greeting customers/guests, taking orders, delivering food to tables, serving
drinks, clearing tables, polishing plates, glasses and cutlery, handling payments and cash,
taking reservations, helping clean plates and kitchen utensils, setting up for the next
meeting.
2.3. Contribute to the cleaning of the restaurant and bar and its immediate surroundings,
including: cleaning tables, chairs, banisters, vacuuming and mopping the floors, hovering
corridor outside of restaurant and outside toilets, dusting lights and paintings.
2.5 Know the menu, and have good knowledge of the food and produce the Restaurant
provides.
2.11. Report for duty punctually for every shift, in complete, clean Uniform and sign in the
time book.
3.1. The waiter`s employment under this Contract shall commence on 1 st January 2022
(notwithstanding the date hereof) and shall continue from that date for a renewable term
of twelve months, subject to a probation of six months ending 30 st June 2022 unless and
until it is terminated as set out in this Contract.
3.2. The waiter may terminate his employment under this Contract by giving one month`
written notice to the Employer.
3.3. The Employer may terminate the waiter`s employment under this Contract by giving one
month written Notice to the bar man, or paying him one month basic salary in lieu of
notice.
3.4. The Employer reserves the right to terminate this Contract without Notice or payment in
lieu of notice in the event of serious misconduct on the part of the waiter such as those
outlined in paragraph 9 of this Contract.
The waiter shall conform to such hours of work as are from time to time reasonably
required of him and shall not be entitled to receive any additional remuneration for work
performed outside his normal working hours.
5.1. The waiter`s normal place of work is at Mango Lodge in Zomba or such place or places
in the Republic of Malawi as the Managing Director may from time to time direct.
6.1. The Employer shall pay to the marketing officer a monthly basic salary of

7.1. The marketing officer shall be entitled during the subsistence of the contract to join
Medical Scheme operated by an approved medical practitioner. The Employer shall make
contribution of up to 50% for the waiter, his spouse and two children.
8. ANNUAL LEAVE
The waiter shall be entitled to an annual leave of 21 working days. The leave shall be
granted only at times agreed with the Lodge Manager and Managing Director.
9.1 In cases of serious misconduct or incompetence, on the part of the waiter, the employer
shall dismiss him without any notice or warning.
9.2 In other cases the waiter will be given an oral warning in the case of the first offence and
a written warning in the case of a subsequent offence before being dismissed.
9.3 The waiter may be suspended from service without pay either as an alternative to
dismissal or during the investigation of any alleged misconduct or incompetence but if
you are not found to be at fault you will be paid your normal remuneration for the period
of suspension.
9.4 Without prejudice to the generality of the above and without setting out a comprehensive
definition of the expression, serious misconduct may include:
10.2 The waiter shall not directly or indirectly carry on or engage in any other business or
trade of any nature or undertake any other remunerative employment without the prior
written consent of the Managing Director.
11. CONFIDENTIALITY
11.1 The waiter shall keep confidential and shall not use or disclose or attempt to use or
disclose to any person any of the secrets or confidential information of the employer
which come to his knowledge during his employment with the employer.
11.2 The waiter’s duty of confidentiality shall apply during and after this Contract without any
time limit.
