Prerequisites Assessment:

Ask the learners to answer the following question.

As a consumer, how can you help prevent the rapid depletion of natural resources?

Selective Response:
 Oral Recitation (for offline or face to face modality)
 Online quiz thru google form (for modular and online modality)

Pre-lesson Remediation Activity:

1. For Students with Insufficient Level of Prerequisite Content-knowledge and/or Skill(s):

 Explaining and/or concepts clarification

SHORT ESSAY:
Write a short essay that answers the question below:
What are the difference of El Niño and La Niña?

2. For Students with Fairly Sufficient Level of Prerequisite Content-knowledge and/or Skill(s):
 Reflection.

REFLECTION PAPER:
Share your knowledge about the question below:
Are you aware of climate change? Did you feel a sense of fear when you first heard of it? Elaborate your answer.

Introduction:

1. Time frame a student is expected to finish learning the lesson (and where to contact the teacher when concerns arise).
 The time allotted is 480 minutes.
 My office is in Building 3 – 1st floor Registrar’s Office, my e-mail address is [email protected], you can also message me through my number (0915-
299-4099) and my FB account (Lileen Raquel Castillo).

Online and Distance (Online + Offline remote)

Learners can communicate with their teacher via text or call, or social media messenger.

Blended (Online + In-person On-campus)

Learners can communicate with the teacher during the on-campus meeting and utilize the channels for Distance Learning during off-campus days.

2. The knowledge (RUA) the student is expected to gain from learning the topic/lesson

● Discuss planetary network on the aspect of climate change;

● List activities that care for the environment;
● Explain the effects of consumption and production patterns that contribute to climate change;
● Explain and illustrate personal contributions that can actually reduce the problems on climate change;
● Make a stand on the consequences of one’s actions affect the lives of others and the environment;
● Analyze how production and consumption habits contribute to climate change; and
● Write resolution about how you can personally contribute toward solving problems of climate change.

3. Context where the student is going to apply his/her learning (In what PAA/EAA and personal use?)

● EAA/PAA: Collaboration
● Are you aware of climate change? Did you feel a sense of fear when you first heard of it? Elaborate on your answer.

4. Overview of the Lesson

This lesson focuses on the problem of climate change, the factors that bring about this phenomenon, its effects, and possible solutions. This topic stems from
what a planetary network is.

Student’s Experiential Learning: (Note: Use the Flexible Learning Activity Identified for the topic/lesson relative to the General Enabling Teaching Strategy)

This section is intended for the presentation guide of the lesson proper. It must highlight the chunking of the topic into essential concepts through the use of formative
questions.
Your learners will go through reading activities for them to be able to discuss Planetary Networks.

CHUNK 1: CLIMATE CHANGE AND GLOBAL WARMING

Formative question
What is Climate Change?

Learning Activities:

1. The teacher facilitates the interactive discussion.

2. The student will present their ideas about the topic and the teacher will explain further the discussion based on the students’ ideas.

Guided Questions:

1. What is the concept of Planetary Networks?

2. What is the cause of Climate Change?
3. Who is primarily responsible for the occurrence of climate change?
4. Why is the burning of coal dangerous to the environment?
5. What are some hazardous gases that triggered global warming?

Chunk 2: CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION PATTERNS AFFECTING CLIMATE CHANGE

Formative question:
How does climate change affect our daily lives?

Learning Activities:

1. The teacher facilitates the interactive discussion.

2. The student will present their ideas about the topic and the teacher will explain further the discussion based on the students’ ideas.

Guided Questions:

1. Where does carbon footprint actually come from?

2. Why does everything you own have its own carbon footprint?
3. How will you reduce your carbon footprint?
Chunk 3: INDIVIDUAL ACTIONS THAT CAN MITIGATE CLIMATE CHANGE

Formative question:
Why should you save energy?

Learning Activities:

1. The teacher facilitates the interactive discussion.

2. The student will present their ideas about the topic and the teacher will explain further the discussion based on the students’ ideas.

Guided Questions:

1. How can the recycling of metals reduce carbon footprint?

Chunk 4: CARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND DELAYING CLIMATE CHANGE

Formative question:
How can you minimize, if not eradicate climate change?

Learning Activities:

1. The teacher facilitates the interactive discussion.

2. The student will present their ideas about the topic and the teacher will explain further the discussion based on the students’ ideas.

Guided Question:

1. How will you influence the government to enact laws supporting your climate change reduction advocacy?

Synthesis

This lesson introduced you to planetary networks, focusing on global warming and climate change. Learned that these problems are confronting the world and everything in it
– the entire humanity and all living organisms. Understood that humans caused the problems entailing climate change by burning fossil fuels that cause GHG emissions and
by maintaining detrimental production and consumption patterns. However, there are feasible ways to respond to the problems of global warming and climate change.
Concerted and sustained efforts among individuals, NGOs, schools, and governments can help in the planning and implementation of effective strategies to mitigate the
adverse effects of global warming and climate change as well as to adapt to the reality of the situation.
RUA of a Student’s Learning:

● Discussed planetary network on the aspect of climate change;

● Listed activities that care for the environment;
● Explained the effects of consumption and production patterns that contribute to climate change;
● Explained and illustrate personal contributions that can actually reduce the problems on climate change;
● Make a stand on the consequences of one’s actions affect the lives of others and the environment;
● Analyzed how production and consumption habits contribute to climate change; and
● Wrote resolution about how you can personally contribute toward solving problems of climate change.

Culminating Output

Let the learners do and follow the given instruction:

You are a team of researchers tasked to conduct a survey in a particular community regarding the influence of globalization on the people’s daily living. The coverage
of the research includes the components, operations, effects, and networks of globalization. Your team will prepare a questionnaire (to be approved by your head) and
will look for 50 respondents. You will later discuss the results of the survey through a slideshow presentation. The presentation should be organized, accurate, and well
delivered.

Post-lesson Remediation Activity:

Let the learners answer the following questions to find out what they have learned about the topic Planetary Networks.

You are an environmentalist and active mountain climber. You observed in one of your mountain treks that the forests had thinned and some of the forest animals no longer
appear. You later learned that hunting and illegal logging were prevalent here.
To personally contribute to the protection of the environment and to the reduction of the effects of climate change, you decided to write a proposal that you can share with
members of your mountaineering club. You will submit a proposal that contains the following:
1. Specific projects the club can engage in;
2. Time frame and location where to conduct the projects;
3. Persons in charge to contact; and
4. Budgetary requirements.
You will submit this to the club president for evaluation and approval.

Post Lesson Remediation for Students with Insufficient Level of Prerequisite Content-Knowledge and/or Skill(s):

On a sheet of paper, make a diagram of the cycle of demand, production, consumption, and the environment using a particular food or industrial product. Explain your work
to your classmates.
