Tut 6 Sol Multistage

The document contains 7 questions about amplifiers: 1) A 3-stage amplifier with gains of 40, 50, and 60 has a total gain of 4000 and a gain in dB of 60 dB. 2) For an n-stage RC coupled amplifier, the lower and upper half power frequencies are each divided by the square root of n. 3) For a two-stage amplifier using identical single stages with lower and upper 3 dB cutoffs of 64 Hz and 10 kHz, the new cutoffs will be 32 Hz and 20 kHz.

Q1. A three stage amplifier has a gain of its three stages as 40, 50, and 60 respectively.

Find the
total gain of the system. Express the gain also in dB.

Q2. If f1 and f2 are lower and upper half powr frequencies of a single amplifying stage. Find the
corresponding values for ‘n’ RC cascaded stages

Q3. A single stage CE amplifier has lower 3 dB cut off of 64 Hz and an upper 3 dB cut off of 10
kHz. What will be the new value for these frequencies for two stage amplifier consisting of a
cascaded arrangement of two identical stages of the type mentioned.

Q4. With a neat circuit diagram, explain the operation of a two identical gain stage R-C coupled
amplifier. Draw its gain-frequency response. Explain, using low frequency h parameter
model analysis, Explain why gain is constant over mid-frequency range and falls at low
frequency region of operation. Derive an expression for overall bandwidth.
Q5. Determine input and output impedance and overall gain for 2 stage RC coupled amplifier.
Take hie = 2.2k, hfe = 60, hre = 2.5 X 10–4, hoe = 2.5 mA/V, RC = 4.7 kohms, RE = 1.0
kohms, RS = 1 kohms, VCC = 12 V

Q6. The power gain of an amplifier is 25 dB. If the input power is 10mW find the output power.

Q7. A two stage RC coupled amplifier uses transistors having h-parameters hie = 1 kohms,
hfe = 100. If the load resistance is 2.2 kohms calculate the overall mid frequency gain.
Neglect the effect of source resistance and biasing resistances.
