Students will discuss how Melinda develops over the course of the story based on her interactions and relationships with other characters. The teacher will launch a discussion about Melinda and her supporting characters using preparatory writing activities and paired discussions to scaffold ideas before bringing the full class together. Progress checks and modifications like using Jamboard for non-verbal participation will help ensure all students can engage with analyzing how characters affect each other in the story.
