Statement of Purpose: VERILOG, MATLAB and SIMULINK Which Have Given Me The Required Interface To

This document is a statement of purpose from an applicant named Pooja Shingala. She discusses her lifelong passion for mathematics, electronics, and technology which motivated her to study electronics and communication engineering. She gained strong theoretical knowledge and practical skills in subjects like signal processing and VLSI. For her final year project, she worked on an automation and security system using speech recognition. She believes continuing her education at a Canadian university would provide an intellectually stimulating environment to further her career goals of working as an electronics project developer and manager through graduate research. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Geniuses are not born, they are made. And they are made like everyone else..through
sheer grit and perseverance. These are the qualities I believe in and which have guided
me in my quest for excellence in science and technology.

My endeavor to quench the insatiable thirst for knowledge since my childhood has
nurtured a creative and analytical being in me. I had the necessary challenging ambience
in my school that was conducive for such a thought process. I was always fascinated
towards Mathematics. My interest in the field of science prompted me to take up
mathematics as a major subject in my 11-12th grade.

A fascination for Electronics and Communication and keen interest in the ever-growing
world of technology motivated me to take up Engineering. I chose to major in
ELECRONICS AND COMMUNICATION with an intense urge to develop the skills deeper
into this challenging field. My inherent zeal for electronics engineering has ‘propelled my
career since then’. The degree not only helped me to gain a strong theoretical base but
also provided me with adequate practical exposure to reinforce the theoretical concepts in
subjects like Communication systems, Signal processing, VLSI, Control systems,
Microprocessors and Microcontroller. In particular I like Signal processing & VLSI, and
would like to specialize in that. The electronic chip has always fascinated me. As years
roll by the size of the chip is decreasing and the cost is decreasing effectively. Though the
size is decreasing, the sophistication of the function performed by the chip is increasing
all the time. This advancement in the technology of the chip industry has inspired me to
work in that industry, but as for my MS degree, I would remain open to other topics as
well. I also learnt programming languages like C, C++, Microprocessor programming,
VERILOG, MATLAB and SIMULINK which have given me the required interface to
blend my theoretical knowledge with computer applications.

During my final year I did project on Automation and Security using Speech
Recognition. The aim of the project was to control the equipment and provide security
with voice command. The main components of the project were speech recognition IC
and Microcontroller.

It is my strong belief that Canada possesses a highly advanced technology and hence the
Engineers & Scientists there are able to dream big, think big and build big. If I can get an
opportunity to be a part of that intellectually stimulating environment, I am sure my
talents would be put to optimal use. I could imbibe some of that great spirit and
implement it later working in my country and contribute in my own small way towards
its development and welfare.

I feel that my career objectives can be realized only by means of a graduate study
involving high quality research. I would like to pursue a course that not only supplements
the knowledge that I possess but also provides a strong foundation to my research oriented
study. Through my graduate education I wish to specialize and gain expertise in my chosen
area of Electronic Technology and work as Electronic Project Developer and Project
Manager in future. The choice of university for my graduate studies would be a vital
decision since it would go a long way in determining the quality of my future hereon. The
atmosphere that I envisage of your university has inspired me to be a part of your
university and work under the professors as a part of their research teams.

I am confident that given a chance I will prove my mettle and render myself worthy of
your university. I would be grateful if you consider my candidature for the admission
with financial support. I look forward to an enriching graduate study at your prestigious
university with sincerity, competence and hard work.
