MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS FOR DIFFERENT

POSITIONS / SELECTION POLICY (FACULTY)

For Engineering & Technology and Management

1. Assistant Professor (Grade-I)


M.Tech/MBA or equivalent with first division and throughout a good academic
record.

2. Assistant Professor (Grade-II)

(i) M.Tech/MBA or equivalent with first division and throughout a good academic
record + 2 years experience at the University level. or
(ii) M.Tech/MBA or equivalent with first division and throughout a good academic
record + 1 year experience at the University level provided at least 2 years
prior experience elsewhere.
3. Assistant Professor (Senior Grade)
(i) Ph.D., with first division in preceding degree and throughout a good academic
record + at least 2 years post Ph.D. experience. Publication requirement is
essential. Should be active researcher, capable to develop syllabi, courses,
labs etc.
(ii) While considering candidates, the Vice-Chancellor may approve relaxation of
post Ph.D. experience for exceptionally good candidates.

For Sciences, Humanities & Social Science, Biotechnology, Pharmacy and


For the Faculty in Management of Non MBA Stream

4. Assistant Professor (Grade-I)


Ph.D., with first division in preceding degree and throughout a good academic
record.

5. Assistant Professor (Grade-II)


(i) Ph.D., with first division in preceding degree and throughout a good academic
record + 2 years experience at the University level for people without prior
experience. or
(ii) PhD with first division in preceding degree and throughout a good academic
record + 1 year experience at the University level provided at least 2 years prior
experience elsewhere.
6. Assistant Professor (Senior Grade)
Ph.D., with first division in preceding degree and throughout a good academic
record + at least 4 years post Ph.D experience. Publication requirement is essential.
Should be active researcher, capable to develop syllabi, courses, labs etc.

Common to All

7. Associate Professor
(i) Ph.D., with first division at the preceding degree and throughout a good
academic record.
(ii) Experience:
(a) Total teaching / research experience of 8 years, out of which a minimum
of 4 years experience as Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) at University
level.
(b) In case of exceptionally good candidate, relaxation in experience of one
year may be approved by the Vice-Chancellor.
(iii) At least four publications in reputed referred, cited, indexed, journals after
becoming Assistant Professor (Senior Grade).
or
Experience of successful guidance of research work at the Ph.D. level (at
least one Ph.D. completed and two research papers in reputed referred,
cited, indexed journals) after becoming Assistant Professor (Senior Grade)
or
Successful completion of sponsored research projects of substantial amount
(Rs.25 lakh or more) and good quality publications/patents out of the
research carried out on the sponsored research projects after becoming
Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) and to be judged equivalent to the Ph.D.
thesis guidance.
(iv) Capability to develop curricula, laboratories etc.
(v) Some other significant contributions/achievements after becoming Assistant
Professor (Senior Grade).
8. Professor
(i) Ph.D., with first division at the preceding degree and throughout a good
academic record.
(ii) Experience:
(a) Total teaching / research experience of 12 years, out of which a
minimum of 5 years experience as Associate Professor at University
level.
(b) In case of exceptionally good candidate, relaxation in experience of
one year may be approved by the Vice-Chancellor.
(iii) At least three publications in reputed referred, cited, indexed, journals after
becoming Associate Professor.
(iv) Experience of successful guidance of research work at Ph.D. level (at least
one Ph.D. completed) after becoming Associate Professor.
or
In case where opportunity of Ph.D. guidance was not available, two
publications in reputed referred, cited, indexed, journals in addition to those
mentioned at S.No.(iii) after becoming Associate Professor and to be judged
equivalent to the Ph.D. thesis guidance.
or
Successful completion of sponsored research projects of substantial amount
(Rs.40 lakh or more) and good quality publications/patents out of the
research carried out on the sponsored research projects after becoming
Associate Professor and to be judged equivalent to the Ph.D. thesis
guidance.
(v) Ability to form academic policies of the department and capable of handling
academic/administrative responsibilities at University level.
(vi) Some other significant contributions/achievements after becoming Associate
Professor.
9. A due weightage will be given to the following while considering cases for
promotion:
(i) Report of HOD on working, performance, conduct and behaviour.
(ii) General Working performance and initiatives w.r.t. departmental and
institute works.
(iii) Relationship with peers in institute and outside.
10. Research papers published should be of high quality and be in journals indexed in
SCI and SCOPUS.
