VPA Flags

This document describes 18 different flags used in volume price analysis to indicate trends, strength, weakness, and sentiment changes in financial markets. The flags provide information such as whether a movement indicates weakness in an uptrend, confirmation of bearishness, lack of demand or supply, and bullish or bearish reversals. It also introduces two new sentiment change flags, a green up arrow indicating a possible end to a downtrend and uptrend may follow, and a red up arrow indicating a possible end to an uptrend and downtrend may follow.

s.n Flag Details Indication

Appears in Up trend. Displayed when we have High Volume Weakness


1 down Bar in an Uptrend and Indicates weakness

Appears when an Up Trust Bar happens Bearish

Appears mainly in the Uptrend. Displayed when we have Weakness
Pseudo Up Thrust Bar. This Indicates weakness

Appears when down bar happens after an Up Thrust Bar Confirms Bearishness
appeared the previous day. This provides confirmation of the
weakness indicated by the Up Thrust Bar.

No Demand Bar. Happening in a Up Bar indicates weakness, If weakness
the happens in a down or sideways move it indicates that
the up move will not happen any time soon

indicates strength

Stopping Volume. Normally happens near the bottom of a Bullish

nearing its end

A up Bar after a long down trend closing at the top and with Bullish
high volume and dipping into a new low indicates a
Reverse UpTrust.

Top Reversal Bar Weakness
New Sentiment change Flags

VPA-4.0 has new sentiment change Flags. A green up Arrow indicates that there is a change of
sentiment. The current down Trend may possibly end soon and we may see an Uptrend soon. A
Red up Arrow indicates that there is a change of sentiment. The current Up Trend may possibly
end soon and we may see Down trend soon. Please note that though these flags often result in
a big trend change, these are not Buy and Sell Indicator.
