Just the other week I prepared colour mixing activity as rainy day kind-of-thing to do.
Sarah I was pleased that you wanted to join the table. I set everybody with trays and milk
pottle caps and one dropper. There were larger containers for everybody to share that had
red, green and yellow food colouring mixed with water.
You very enthusiastically took the dropper in to your hand and started to mix the water with
the wand. I showed you the technique to the dropper use and mentioned to follow how
others were using their fingers to squeeze the water in. There is definitely a trick to this on
how to squeeze the dropper in the right time whilst its submerged in the liquid to let
vacuum fill the droppers cavity and then let it go to empty it. I observed how you were
joyously squeezing the dropper with the effect of yellow liquid raising and lowering inside
the dropper. Finally you learned the trick to right coordination of emptying it on the tray and
refilling it again. You were happy to do this for a long time and then you started mixing in
other colour from different container to make some gorgeous autumnal tones. Art and
playing with colours can be greatly satisfying, dont you think? I would love to expand on
this learning later on.
