9th Lesson Plan Multiples 10 100 and 1000

The lesson plan is for a 4th grade math class on multiplying multiples of 10, 100, and 1,000 by single digits. The teacher will introduce the concept through an opening activity with pattern problems. Students will then work in small groups on guided and independent activities using place value charts, colored sticks with problems, and word problems to practice the skill. Formative assessment will involve the teacher observing students and asking questions as they work. The closing will review what was learned, and the teacher's reflection notes the activity was both enjoyable and beneficial for building on students' knowledge.

Time: 5 min

Resources
Preparation (what do you need to do/make before class?)
PowerPoint
Divide the class into 8 groups
Small boards + Markers + eraser
prepare the materials for each student or group (on

other students will listen, then use small boards to solve the problem.
Independent Experience (small group activity 1)
Do one example in front of the students (solve a problem of 8 x 200 by grouping)
give each student 1 chart
give each students a problem on the (randomly) - Colored Tongue Depressors
theyll solve the problem by grouping on the chart and write the answer on the stick
Independent Experience(small group activity 2) - Thousands place value chart
They will be using the chart and understand, plan, solve and check problem
The teacher will show the students a pattern of number multiplies by multiples (10, 100 and 1000)
Then each group will have a basket includes papers and each paper include a digit.
Each student will take 2 papers then on their board will make a pattern. (they may use the chart also)
Independent Experience(small group activity 3)
There will be different word problem cards according

Closing

Assessment
Walking around while the students are working and see if they understood or not (take notes)
Ask them WHY and HOW questions to check their understanding

Reflection
The best thing happened in this class that the activity was enjoyable and beneficial at
the same time for the students, they like to discover new knowledge by building on their
previous knowledge. If I gave the lesson again, I would like use other methods and make
the classroom more active because students like to move so, I want to make them do
what they like and learn at the same time.
They learned the concept of multiply by multiples of 10, 100 and 1000. I knew that
because when I they discovered that and explained it to me, also when they were doing
the multiplication operations I saw them using this understanding.
