iOS 26: Apple's Preview App Rumored to Expand From Mac to iPhone

iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 will include a preinstalled Preview app from Apple, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

In a lengthy report outlining his WWDC 2025 expectations today, Gurman said that the Preview app will provide iPhone and iPad users with an all-in-one, built-in solution for managing, editing, and annotating PDF documents.

The app will look similar to Apple's longstanding Preview app on the Mac, he said:

The software looks similar to the Mac version, and its launch screen is in the same style as apps like Pages and Keynote. It includes a big logo on the top portion of the screen advertising the Preview name and a gallery of document options below it.

Gurman did not say if the Preview app on the iPhone and iPad will also offer basic image editing abilities, like it does on the Mac.

iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 will be announced during Apple's WWDC 2025 keynote, which begins on Monday, June 9 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.

I really would like a standalone Dictionary app.

I also would like Fitness and Health apps on macOS.

REALLYY???? I can’t believe it.
This is game changing even if redesign would not be so good.

I have always dreamed of having preview on my iPhone but especially needed that on iPad. This is so convenient. Preview was always king on Macs because it allowed not to rely on complicated apps like Photos to organize shots, for me legacy “sorting by folders” is much more convenient, I know exactly where I store which shots

I don’t support this. A lot of redundancy with files (which should be finder). Preview should be a service, not an app.
I'm not so sure. I prefer the 'service' in Files being more of a QuickLook type feature, if i want to edit a PDF, or image, you then move into the Preview app. Just opening the app will also then give you a quick overview of recent files.

No device should come without a simple PDF editor to add and edit text, add, remove and sort pages.
But Apple loves that sweet cut of the subscription-based apps that offers absolutely nothing after the first download and that should clearly be one-time-payment $5 apps instead. Or freeware, if Apple didn't build the store to make it impossible not to lose money with freeware.
I hate how hard it is to even understand if a "free" app with IAP will do anything useful before I pay.
