Mario Kart World unlockables list confirmed so far
All to play for.

Mario Kart World unlockables are many and varied - from a new mode and cup to race in, to a vast roster of characters, karts and costumes to discover.
Though you’ll likely be touching upon pretty much every aspect of Mario Kart World to get everything, focusing on Grand Prix mode is a good starting focus, as that will help you chip away at multiple unlocks at once.
With Mario Kart World having just launched, this unlockables list is in progress - but there’s still plenty to chase while everything this game has to offer is revealed.
Mario Kart World unlockables list
Here’s all types of Mario Kart World unlockables confirmed so far:
Characters: Though the roster is significant from the outset, new characters are available through two methods - by completing each starting cup (CC or final position doesn’t matter), or being transformed by the Kamek item during a race.

Courses and Cups: If you look at the cups and courses on offer, you’ll notice a notable omission - Rainbow Road. It’s found within the Special Cup, which is unlocked by completing all other starting cups first (CC or final position doesn’t matter). The Special Cup also features Acorn Heights, Mario Circuit, and a second Peach Stadium.
Modes: 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc are available from the start, with Mirror Mode also available to unlock, though the exact requirements are uncertain - especially as it seems to require a level of completion across several modes, and could well be unlocked in more than one way. Early signs suggest it’s likely (but not confirmed) that coming first in all cups is a requirement, alongside finding collectables in Free Roam mode. Until then, know 200cc is not in the game, though like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it’s possible it could come in a future update.
Costumes: A new addition to Mario Kart World are costumes, unlocked by using meals inside Dash Food items found dotted around during races or Free Roam. Some characters have more costumes to unlock than others, and since specific food items will unlock certain costumes, it means you must race in a certain region or course to get them.

Karts: A returning feature is unlocking new karts by collecting coins. This works across all modes, so as you play, try to collect as many coins as possible - then at regular intervals, such as 100, 200, or 300 coins, you’ll unlock a kart for all characters to play with when you return back to the main menu.

Stickers: The game’s equivalent of achievements, you’ll find these at the bottom of the main menu, with a small prompt telling you your latest unlock. The vast majority of these appear to be based on total progress - pulling off a certain number of tricks, collecting so many coins, and so on.

That’s all the unlockables are known about so far - though we suspect Free Roam’s vast and varied map has many more secrets and surprises to discover, and we’ll add anything notable to the above list when we find them.
