Safelite AutoGlass Leverages Ultimate Software’s Person-Centric Technology to Support Rapid Expansion, Connect Thousands of Employees

Ultimate Software (Nasdaq: ULTI), a leading cloud provider of people management solutions, announced today that Safelite AutoGlass®, the leading company for auto glass repair and replacement in the U.S., is leveraging the UltiPro solution to support ongoing expansion, provide quick access to its widely dispersed, mobile workforce, and deliver strategic business intelligence to HR and financial teams.

Founded in 1947, Safelite AutoGlass has grown from a single store in Wichita, Kansas to the largest vehicle glass specialist in the U.S., with more than 10,000 employees serving over 4 million customers per year. Previously, the company had been using a payroll service bureau to handle its HR operations. With its rapid, continual growth, Safelite needed to make the switch to a sophisticated, flexible HCM solution that provides instant, mobile capabilities for its thousands of employees as well as real-time reporting and analytics for strategic gains.

“Since we first deployed UltiPro in 2009, we have doubled our employee base, and one of our company business strategies is to double our business again within the next five years. With UltiPro’s configurability, we are confident that we can support our business as it moves to the next level. We have the right technology, tools, and resources in place,” said Ben DeMartini, HRIS manager at Safelite AutoGlass.

According to DeMartini, one of the greatest benefits to the growing business has been increased productivity for Safelite’s HR team, which can focus more on achieving strategic goals and supporting its workforce rather than spending time on managing paper processes.

“Our company is very focused on developing talent and leadership, and Ultimate’s technology enables us to put more focus on the true ‘people’ aspect of what we do. One of the biggest wins for us is the total elimination of paper usage; and with such a large workforce across the U.S., this translates into tremendous reduction in expense for our business as well as time and effort for our HR teams,” said DeMartini. “The efficiency and time savings have been incredibly beneficial to our HR department and our company — and having UltiPro has been a very positive experience for our associates as well.”

Even with such a large workforce widely-dispersed throughout the U.S., Safelite is also able to function more strategically because it has the tools to accelerate communications and provide employees with instant, 24-7 access to information. UltiPro is connecting its large population of employees by serving as the primary hub to communicate workforce information, and employees are using the easy-to-use technology to access pay history, update benefits choices, review job details, read company news, find relevant employee forms and documents, and more — immediately available from any location, any device, and at any time.

“The majority of our associates are on the road all day, every day, and it used to be a real challenge for us to communicate with them. UltiPro Mobile is available on the same device as their work orders, which gives them immediate access to self-service capabilities as well as their personal information. It’s very convenient and valuable to them. Instead of having to spend any extra time or effort by going into a base of operations or centralized location, UltiPro Mobile enables our associates to be focused on providing the best services to our customers,” said DeMartini. “And our managers, whether in the field or in an office, can complete tasks from their inbox, review resumes, evaluate performance, and monitor important metrics.”

In addition to enjoying immediate access and business efficiency, Safelite also considers UltiPro Business Intelligence as an additional advantage in creating company-wide benefits.

“We use UltiPro for a range of strategic analytics for both the HR and financial teams, such as monitoring turnover, completing cost analyses or benefits analyses, identifying workforce trends, and more. All of the HR metrics that our company needs are available with one click,” said DeMartini. “With UltiPro’s rich capabilities for reporting and business intelligence, we feel like we are way ahead in knowing what will influence our business, which is a huge advantage because we are continually making business adjustments to support our expansion.”

Safelite also rates Ultimate’s customer service as an essential component to its successful people management. “We are a service-based company, and it’s very important that we partner with other companies like ours that are focused on delivering premium customer service. It’s been extremely beneficial to have quick, direct access to our customer success manager at Ultimate. We have frequent communication with her, and it helps that she is very familiar with our unique business, especially when new issues or trends may surface that impact our company.”

“Having person-centric technology immediately available to employees, managers, and executives is an absolute must for businesses of all sizes and in all industries — especially ones like Safelite that have an expanding workforce comprised of employees in thousands of locations,” said Greg Swick, chief sales officer at Ultimate Software. “UltiPro is technology that people want to use, and as a result, our customers are seeing high levels of adoption and productivity among their workforce. We’re thrilled that Safelite AutoGlass is using UltiPro to connect its people, rely on strategic business intelligence, and support its overall business.”

The next XaaS is CICDaaS. Why? Because CICD saves developers a huge amount of time. CD is an especially great option for projects that require multiple and frequent contributions to be integrated. But… securing CICD best practices is an emerging, essential, yet little understood practice for DevOps teams and their Cloud Service Providers. The only way to get CICD to work in a highly secure environment takes collaboration, patience and persistence. Building CICD in the cloud requires rigorous ar...
Companies are harnessing data in ways we once associated with science fiction. Analysts have access to a plethora of visualization and reporting tools, but considering the vast amount of data businesses collect and limitations of CPUs, end users are forced to design their structures and systems with limitations. Until now. As the cloud toolkit to analyze data has evolved, GPUs have stepped in to massively parallel SQL, visualization and machine learning.

DevOps is under attack because developers don’t want to mess with infrastructure. They will happily own their code into production, but want to use platforms instead of raw automation. That’s changing the landscape that we understand as DevOps with both architecture concepts (CloudNative) and process redefinition (SRE). Rob Hirschfeld’s recent work in Kubernetes operations has led to the conclusion that containers and related platforms have changed the way we should be thinking about DevOps and...

Large industrial manufacturing organizations are adopting the agile principles of cloud software companies. The industrial manufacturing development process has not scaled over time. Now that design CAD teams are geographically distributed, centralizing their work is key. With large multi-gigabyte projects, outdated tools have stifled industrial team agility, time-to-market milestones, and impacted P&L; stakeholders.
Enterprises are adopting Kubernetes to accelerate the development and the delivery of cloud-native applications. However, sharing a Kubernetes cluster between members of the same team can be challenging. And, sharing clusters across multiple teams is even harder. Kubernetes offers several constructs to help implement segmentation and isolation. However, these primitives can be complex to understand and apply. As a result, it’s becoming common for enterprises to end up with several clusters. Thi...
