Swedish multinational telecoms company Ericsson has released its latest Mobility Report revealing that according to its data, the number of global mobile subscriptions will reach 9.3 billion by 2019, 5.6 billion of which are predicted to be for smartphones.  Read Original Content

A new report released by Strategy Analytics, says that global smartphone shipments reached 251 million units during this year’s third quarter and Google’s mobile operating system, Android, accounts for an 81.3 percent share of the global market.  Read Original Content

Hot on the heels of releasing six major features to Adobe Analytics, Adobe has released new mobile services as part of the Adobe Marketing Cloud. According to the latest F-Secure report, mobile malware threat families rose 26 percent quarter-over-quarter, to 259.  The security firm says it uses data from the Google Play Store and Apple's App Store, third-party app markets and other anonymized data from F-Secure's own mobile security customers.  Read Original Content

According to a study conducted by computer science researchers at North Carolina State University, changes manufacturers made to the stock Android software were responsible for more than 60 percent of the security flaws uncovered in phones from different handset companies. Buying a smartphone with a screen size of anything higher than five inch is becoming craze among smartphone buyers around the world. From the top mobile phone makers such as Apple and Samsung and to many China-based OEMs, all have launched interesting models with the screen size in the range of five to six inch. Analytics firm Flurry has released new data indicating a growing market of independent applications. According to the company, the middle class app market experienced a 357 percent increase in growth in the last 18 months. This niche market, as the data showed, has a global audience of more than 20 million active users monthly. Samsung expects the rollout of LTE-Advanced networks across the developed world to drive handset sales in markets that already have a high level of smartphone penetration.  "The expansion of new LTE services, including LTE Advanced, will be the key growth driver," said Jong-Kyun Shin, president and CEO of Samsung IT & Mobile Communication at an analyst event in Seoul on Wednesday. "Until 2017, we expect an annual average growth of near 30 percent in the LTE smartphone market, reaching 680 million units." Read Original Content

It's no secret that the smartphone app industry is skyrocketing. Experts expect it to grow to be a $26 billion industry by 2017. But as the business grows, people need to be more and more wary of where their information might pop up next. A study by Privacy Rights Clearinghouse reveals more than a third of apps it reviewed sent data to parties it did not disclose. The same study found a majority of apps sent data over unencrypted connections. Read Original Content
