These phrases probably evoke thoughts such as “fake,” “not real,” or
even “shabby.” Artificial is such a harsh adjective. The word
“artificial” is defined as “imitation; simulated; sham” with synonyms
such as fake, false, mock, counterfeit, bogus, phony and factitious.
The word “artificial” may not be the right term to use to describe
“Artificial Intelligence,” because “artificial intelligence” is
anything but fake, false, phony, or a sham. Maybe a better term is
“Augmented Human Intelligence,” or a phrase that highlights both the
importance of augmenting the human’s intelligence as well as to alleviate

Internet of Blockchains: How Networks of Distributed Ledgers Will Enable
Scalability and Cross-Chain Value Exchange
A few years ago – in the early days of Blockchain – a lot of people were
taken with the idea of a multifunctional chain on which all transactions
could be handled.
After Ethereum was launched in 2014, its advocates were talking themselves
hoarse about the transformative opportunities the platform introduced.
Decentralized applications, they predicted, along with all sorts of value
transfers would be executed exclusively on Ethereum from that point on, and
no other networks would ever be needed.
However, that belief didn’t last long: experts saw major networks facing
scalability issues when trying to increase their user bases and, also, they
saw the frequent hacking.

I love it when I get feedback from a blog that I’ve written. I appreciate
the different perspectives and insights that others bring to a topic of
interest. And no blog that I’ve written has drawn more comments than my
blog, “Isaac Asimov: The 4th Law of Robotics.”
The section of the blog that fueled the most comments stem from a scene in
the movie I, Robot where Detective Spooner (played by Will Smith) is
explaining to Doctor Calvin (who is responsible for giving robots human-like
behaviors) why he distrusts and hates robots. He is describing an incident
where his police car crashed into another car and both cars were thrown into
a cold and deep river – certain death for all occupants. However, a robot
jumps into the water and decides to save Detective Spooner over a 10-year old

Cloud computing innovation will power enterprise transformation in 2018.
Cloud growth is also driving a rapid rise in the storage market, exacerbating

From our perspective as consumers, perhaps the best thing about digital
transformation is how consumerization is making technology so much easier to
use. Sure, our television remote controls still have too many buttons, and I
have yet to figure out the digital display in my Honda, but all in all, tech
is getting easier for everybody.
Within companies - even very large ones - the consumerization of technology
is gradually taking hold as well. There are now simple mobile apps for a wide
range of big company tasks, ranging from changing your benefits to replacing
a security badge.
As enterprise denizens know all too well, however, there is still plenty of
technology that's too hard to use. For every intuitive, AI-driven user
interface, there are dozens of arcane, menu or tab-driven monstrosities from

The Federal Communications Commission announced that it will vote on December 14 to enact the exceptionally misleadingly titled “Restoring Internet Freedom” order. If passed, it will do the opposite of restoring anything resembling freedom — it will repeal the current net neutrality rules which were enacted to ensure that Americans would have equal access to the Internet.

Digital technologies have altered how people and businesses interact. The potential for dislocation from ongoing digital transformation has created unprecedented levels of C-suite discussion. The decisive market leaders have heeded the warnings and taken bold actions.
That said, if you’re one of those Chief Technology Officers (CTO) that previously responded to this scenario by making small incremental adjustments to your IT agenda, then you’re potentially at risk. Any relief from those prior tweaks tend to be short lived. The same issues will likely resurface.
