If a Business Profile on Google has been verified and you're authorized to manage the profile, you can request ownership from the current profile owner. Learn more about guidelines for representing your business on Google.
If you search for your Business Profile and canât find the "Claim this business" or "Own this business" link, youâre likely an owner of the profile.
Business ownership can be confirmed with these methods:
- You have the âYou manage this Business Profileâ badge.
- On Search, the business appears when you search
my business
. - On Maps, you have the âManage your Business Profileâ badge.

If youâre not an owner of a Business Profile, you can request ownership from the current profile owner.
Request ownership of a storefront Business Profile
To request ownership of a storefront or hybrid business from the current Business Profile owner:
- To find the Business Profile you want to request ownership of, use one of the following methods:
- Go to business.google.com/add.
- Enter the name and address of the business.
- Choose from the search results.
- Find and claim your business on Google.
- Go to business.google.com/add.
- Click Request Access.
- You'll get a message that says âSomeone else may manage this Business Profile.â
- If you're authorized to manage the profile, you can request ownership from the current profile owner.
- Fill out the form.
- You'll get a message that says âSomeone else may manage this Business Profile.â
- Click Submit.
Tip: Once you submit the request, the current profile receives an email that asks them to contact you and youâll get a confirmation email.
Request ownership of a service-area Business Profile
A service-area business visits or delivers to customers directly but doesnât serve customers at their business address. To request ownership of a service-area business from the current Business Profile owner, contact us.
Tip: In the contact form, under "Choose the best description of this issue," select Transfer ownership of listing.
Bulk-verified accounts
If you have a bulk-verified account, you can follow the storefront business instructions above or request ownership of an existing Business Profile:
- Upload the profile info through spreadsheet. Learn how to Import your bulk upload spreadsheet.
- In Business Profile, open the uploaded profile.
- You'll get an "Owner conflict" dialog that indicates the profile is a duplicate.
- Click Request access.
Tip: The current profile owner will get an email that asks them to contact you and youâll get a confirmation email.
What to do after you've requested ownership
After you request ownership, the current profile owner has 3 days to respond. To check the status of your request, sign in to Business Profile or click the link in your confirmation email.
- If your request is approved: You'll be notified by email and can manage the Business Profile.
- If your request is denied: You'll be notified by email, and you can suggest an edit to the profile. Also, you can appeal the denied request.
- If you donât hear back: If you donât get a response after 3 days, you have the option to claim the profile yourself. To claim a Business Profile:
- Open the original confirmation email you received about your ownership request.
- Find your request.
- Follow the instructions on-screen to verify.
- Alternatively, sign in to Business Profile, and look for a âClaimâ or âVerifyâ button on your dashboard.
Tip: The option to claim a profile isnât always available.
Understand new owner & manager limitations
- Delete or undelete a profile.
- Remove other owners or managers from a profile.
- Transfer primary ownership to themselves or another user.
If the new owner or manager deletes their account within the first 7 days, theyâre removed from the profile. If they change their mind, they must be added again.
Tip: If an existing owner or manager tries to transfer primary ownership of the profile in their first 7 days, they get an error.
