DYK for George Rolph

[edit]

On 14 February 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article George Rolph, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that while George Rolph sued six of his assailants in the Ancaster incident for £1000 each, the trial only awarded him £20 from two of the assailants? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/George Rolph. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, George Rolph), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

FAC comments inquiry

[edit]

Hi Z, I hope you are well! I was lurking through the FAC page for Christmas Tree Farm and I wonder if you could provide some comments for my current FAC, on the Taylor Swift song Forever & Always? I think this too would benefit from a non-Music FAC reviewer. Thank you very much in advance, and no hard feelings if you are unable to :) Ippantekina (talk) 05:12, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @Ippantekina: I only review articles at FAC from editors who have at least a 5.0 reviewed-to-nominated ratio in the last 12 months, since a nomination requires at least five reviews to be complete before it is promoted. According to the FAC statistics, this article doesn't meet my threshold. Hopefully the stats will improve soon and I'll be able to take a look! Z1720 (talk) 13:29, 3 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

TFA: Flight Pattern

[edit]
story · music · places

Thank you today for Flight Pattern, "about a dance performance depicting the plight of a group of refugees. Choreographed by Crystal Pite for The Royal Ballet, it was the first time in 18 years that the ballet company commissioned a work by a woman. If successful, I think this would be English Wikipedia's second featured article about a dance performance, and I would like this to be TFA on World Refugee Day."! - Great to see the Royal Opera House pictured, the work of a woman exposed, a problem of humanity in focus! - Sofia Gubaidulina is remembered on the same page. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:05, 16 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Today: an opera, 100 years old OTD, on Bach's birthday. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:39, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Today, 300 years of Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern, BWV 1! We sang works for (mostly) double choir by Pachelbel, Johann Christoph Bach, Kuhnau/Bach, Gounod and Rheinberger! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:29, 25 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Need help

[edit]

Hello.

I tried to ask someone else, but they wouldn't respond. It's my first time ever nominating something for DYK so I actually don't know how to edit it. I'm also unsure as to how to address the "the meat of it doesn't check out" part and assumed this meant that my entry would be rejected. May I please have some guidance? Thank you. Bloomagiliw (talk) 17:56, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Bloomagiliw: Are you referring to your nomination at Template:Did you know nominations/Maharani (song)? If you click on that blue text, it will open the nomination where anyone can edit it. If you want to propose a new hook, just add "ALT1" followed by the new proposed hook. I suggest proposing multiple hooks (ALT2, ALT3, etc.) so that reviewers can pick the best one. Z1720 (talk) 21:33, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I can edit it now. But I'm struggling to understand this: "...the meat of it doesn't check out; the hook puts the claim in wikivoice while the article attributes."
The hook is from a report about Billboard Philippines' charts, made by Billboard Philippines themselves. May I please know how to address the "the meat of it doesn't check out" bit? Bloomagiliw (talk) 21:53, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Bloomagiliw: I don't know the answer because I didn't write that comment. I would post that question in the nomination. Z1720 (talk) 01:32, 3 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Upcomgin GAR

[edit]

Before you take down old GAs, what is the upcoming of GAs in mathematics? I am putting effort into some articles for improvement, but the randomness of your choice is unknown to me. Would you like to provide some, please? Also, I won't mind if you put the citation needed tags on the unsourced sections before GAR, as long as someone may have paid attention and can easily help to provide some.

Many thanks. Dedhert.Jr (talk) 08:20, 3 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Dedhert.Jr: Thank you for nominating and improving mathematics articles. The GAR process exists to ensure that articles with the GA designation still adhere to the GA criteria. I nominate articles for GAR when concerned that the article does not meet the criteria. If you are interested in finding articles that might need some improvements, I suggest clicking on Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/Sweeps 2023, which lists older GAs with lots of uncited passages. I only add citation needed templates when asked because it is time-consuming and some editors view them as "disruptive". Let me know if there are articles that you would like me to review and add the citation needed templates to (if necessary). You can also install this script: User:Phlsph7/HighlightUnreferencedPassages.js, which is what I use to help find uncited passages in an article. Happy editing! Request for admin assistance

[edit]

Hi. I am asking you just because your name was at the top of the "Recently Active Admin" tool, hope that's okay with you. I noticed this very suspicious user – DCAllStar – they are a brand new user, apparently created just to close an article move discussion, they know about tools like MovePlus – seems very likely a WP:SPA/sockpuppet. SomethingForDeletion (talk) 02:42, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@SomethingForDeletion: Unless you have an idea of who you think they are socking as, I don't think there's much that can be done here. If you think you know which editor is the sock master, I would file an WP:SPI. Z1720 (talk) 02:49, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
