New IEEE Standard Strengthens Connected Medical Devices Against Threats
To better protect the privacy and safety of patients and hospital systems, IEEE partnered with Underwriters Laboratories to develop a new standard. “Because most connected systems use common off-the-shelf components, everything is now hackable, including medical devices and their networks,” says Florence Hudson, chair of the IEEE 2933 Working Group. “That’s the problem this standard is solving.”

IEEE Service-Learning Program Celebrates Record Participation
Over 11,000 students have participated in the Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) in IEEE program since its 1995 founding. EPICS in IEEE provides technology-based solutions for community challenges while helping undergraduate students gain hands-on experience.

Featured Conference: IEEE ICIP
IEEE ICIP 2025 is recognized as the Signal Processing Society’s (SPS) largest and most comprehensive conference dedicated to image and video processing as well as computer vision.

Why Soft Skills Can Help You Land the Job
Even with the rise of AI-powered hiring tools, soft skills—or interpersonal skills—are the key to getting hired. Learn how you can improve those skills and more in this webinar, “Job Search Trends for 2025: What You Need to Know to Stay Ahead.”

How IEEE Young Professionals Are Fighting Climate Change
The IEEE Young Professionals Climate and Sustainability Task Force helps emerging leaders take action to address climate change and contribute to sustainable technology. The group held a panel discussion at the most recent Climate Week NYC. “Young people must be heard and actively involved in shaping solutions,” Manar Elkebir, founder of EcoWave, a Tunisian youth-led environmental organization, said at the panel. “[We] are not just the leaders of tomorrow; we are the changemakers of today.”
