Water Pleaseee

The document discusses requirements for hydrologic routing including cross section and boring requirements for different types of projects like bridges, dams, dikes, and revetments. Cross sections need to extend certain distances from banks and include elevation data. Boring requirements specify spacing and depths for different project categories based on factors like foundation type and material.

Cross Sections requirements

X and Y coordinates at every changes of elevations
Cross sections shall be taken facing downstream.
For small rivers, creeks, canals and other waterways with drainage area less than 40.0 Km 2 whose
river width ranges from 3.0 meters to 15.0 meters, cross sections shall be extended from 10.0 to 20.0
meters from both banks.
For principal rivers as defined by the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) with drainage area
roughly from 10.0 to 1,400 Km2, cross sections shall be extended from 50 to 100 meters from both
banks.
For major rivers as defined by the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) with drainage area of
1,400 Km2 or more, cross sections shall be extended from 100 to 250 meters from both banks, or
more as may be directed.
Maximum experienced flood level (MEFL) with year of occurrence.
Ordinary flood/water level (OWL)
Cont’n. boring Requirements

BORING REQUIREMENTS for EACH PROJECT CATEGORY

Type of Project Spacing Depth
Bridge Project 1-Deep drilling- for each abutment 20.0m minimum-below riverbed
1-Boring- each pier for multi span bridge for ordinary soil unless rock is
encountered at shallower depth

Flood Control & Drainage, Dams-60.0m spacing over foundation areas and 30.0m intermediate Dams & other Retention
Dams, Flood Dikes & along the centreline Structures: ½ times the base width
Revetments Dikes & Revetments-at least one (1) boring in active slide area; three for each dams; 1 to 1½ times the
(3) to five (5) on line in critical transverse for high embankments and height for small concrete dams in
deep cuts; 100m to 200m for irregular soft strata; 500m to 1.0 Km for homogeneous foundation.
homogeneous strata High Embankments &
Revetments: 0.50m to 1.25m times
the horizontal length of side slope
in relatively homogeneous
foundations. In irregular soft strata,
borings should reach hard
materials.
