CRYPTARITHMETIC

● Cryptarithmetic, also known as alphametics, verbal arithmetic, cryptarithm or


word addition, is a type of mathematical game consisting of a mathematical equation
among unknown numbers, whose digits are represented by letters. The goal is to
identify the value of each letter.
TYPES OF PROBLEMS:
1. Cryptarithmetic Addition
2. Cryptarithmetic Subtraction
3. Cryptarithmetic Multiplication
4. Cryptarithmetic Division
CRYPTARITHMETIC

Instructions to solve Cryptarithmetic Problems


1. Alphabets can take up only one distinct value.
2. Alphabets can only take up values between 0-9.
3. Decoded numbers can’t begin with 0, for example, 0813.
4. Problems are uni-solutional.
5. 19 is the max value with a carryover for two one-digit number in the same column.
6. Carry over can only be 1.
7. Of all, there is no specific rule, you will only learn how to solve when you see examples.
