Retraction

Rizal allegedly retracted his writings and beliefs multiple times before his execution, as described in four iterations of the retraction published in Spanish magazines and newspapers at the time. However, the only primary testimony of the retraction comes from Balaguer, who said Rizal confessed and attended mass. Research found the documents of the Cuerpo de Vigilancia that watched Rizal included a report on his last hours from Frederico Moreno giving details, but the reliability of the sources is uncertain.

BALAGUER TESTIMONY
- The only testimony of allegely a primary account that Rizal retr
act, he woke up several times, confess for times, attendee the
mass, received communion
The testimony of Cuerpo de Vigilancia
- Through the research of Rene Escalante, the documents of the
the cuerpo de vigilancia included a resort on the last hours of Riz
al, written by Frederico Moreno. The report give details of the
cuerpo to Moreno.
