Administrative rules and regulations are orders issued by government departments and agencies to enforce laws within their jurisdiction. Each agency promulgates its own rules, cited by the agency abbreviation and rule name. Rules are numbered starting from 1 each year. Important items for researching rules are the issuing agency and year. Before 1987, rules were selectively published in the Official Gazette; the only source was the agency. Now, all rules are published in the National Administrative Register quarterly and electronically. Additional sources include the Official Gazette, law journals, and agency bulletins.
