Guitar is a stringed instrument that
consist six strings and has a flat
shape, long neck that you can played

class?

Very good! How about this class, do

you know who’s this beautiful
woman?

The famous singer Mrs. Regine

Velasquez teacher!

Very good! This beautiful woman is

Mrs. Regine Velasquez. Our Asia’s
song bird nor have an effortless high
voice. She is considered one of the
most influential figures here in Philippine
culture.

Who is this again class? Mrs. Regine Velasquez teacher!

Our Asia’s song bird!
Excellent 4-Apple!

C. Developing Understanding

Earlier, you discovered an instrument

and a person who has a beautiful
voice.

Now, we will explore the two kinds of

timbre. The vocal and instrumental
sounds.

Now meet the human voice or the

vocal sound.

One of the main sources of musical

sound is the human voice. The
human voice is capable of producing
singing tones.

Each person has his/her own distinct

voice because of the size of his/her
vocal cords. Voices differ in range
and timbre of the song.
For example, Mrs. Regine Velasquez
has a strong high voice.

What can you say about the voice of

our Asia’s song bird? Mrs. Regine Velasquez has a high
voice. She can effortlessly sing
higher notes.

Exactly! Mrs. Regine Velasquez is our

Asia’s song bird because of her high-
register voice.
Many people loved the way she sang.

She is also an example of a soloist

singer that has a soprano vocal.

What kind of instrument that she

used base on your observation? Piano, teacher!

In addition, if we have a soprano in

female voice, we also have alto. The
lower female register voice.

Do you know who is this person?

Yes teacher! Taylor swift!

Very Good! To those who don’t

know, Taylor Swift is a famous
American singer and song-writer.
This beautiful woman has an alto
voice. She has a low soft voice.

Again class, what kind of voice that

has Taylor Swift have?
Alto teacher!

What is the meaning of alto again?

Alto is a low voice of a female
singer.
Very good! Okay what kind of
instrument did you notice in the
picture?
A Guitar teacher!
Yes! very good! It is a guitar. Taylor
swift loves to play a guitar. Taylor
loves to make songs with a guitar.

Can you tell me the description of a

guitar? Guitar has a long neck with a flat
figure and consist six strings.

Very good! Now let’s proceed to the

male’s voice.

The tenor is the higher male voice

and like sopranos, they are capable
of delivering thrilling high notes and
often have a brilliant shining timbre.

This person is an example that has a

tenor voice. Do you know who is this
class?

No! teacher!

Well this person is a famous tenor

singer. He is Justine Timberlake. A
famous song-writer and record
producer. Are you familiar with the
film trolls? Yes! Teacher!

The one main character in that movie

is Justine Timberlake’s voice over.
That character is Branch.

Now, what kind of instrument did you

see in the picture? I think drums, Ma’am.

Very good! An instrument, a Drum.

Great, 4-Apple!

Lastly, we have the bass. The lower

male voice. I will show you a picture of a
bass instrument and a picture of
an artist who has a bass voice.

First, the bass guitar or simply bass

is the lowest-pitched member of the
guitar family. It is a plucked string
instrument similar in appearance and
construction to an electric or acoustic
guitar but with a longer neck or scale
length, and typically four to six
strings.

Again, what is this kind of instrument

class? Bass guitar teacher!

Very good! The bass guitar.

For the voice category, do you know

who’s this man?

Yes! That’s Skusta Clee!

Very good! This man is Skusta Clee.

The number one R&B artist now here
in our country. He is also a rapper
and a song-writer. His warm and
beautiful sound of voice is instantly
calming.

Have you heard some of his songs?

Yes teacher!
What kind of voice does Skusta clee
have? Bass voice, Ma’am!

The basses are what kind of voice?

A low singing range teacher!
How about the highest male voice?
Tenor teacher!
What is the highest voice among the
female voices?
Soprano teacher Lester!
How about the lower female voice?
Alto teacher!
Excellent class! Always remember
that there are two kinds of timbre, the
vocal and instrumental sound. In the
vocal we have the soprano, alto,
tenor, and bass. For the instrument
sounds, we have lots of instruments
that can be used when we want to sing.
We have the guitar, piano, violin,
cello, and many other instruments
that can give us a beautiful sound.

Remember, everyone, each of us has

his/her own distinct voice because of the
size of our vocal cords. Therefore, it is
important to value the differences in our
Vocal Timbres. You may have a soprano,
an alto, for boys, a tenor, and a bass. And
I’m telling you, you are unique on your
vocal timbres. Yes! Ma’am.

Understood class?

E. Making Generalizations
(Abstraction)

Let’s recall what we’ve learned. What is

our lesson about Jenneline: Vocal and Instrumental
Sounds
All right, What is a vocal sound,
Daisyree? Vocal sound is when we use our
human voice. The human voice can
produce singing tones

That’s correct! In vocal sound, we use our

own voice to produce sound.

Who wants to sing their favorite song?

Anyone from the class? You may choose
your favorite song and just sing the chorus.
Yes, Dennis. (Dennis sings)
Can we give Dennis a bravo clap?
(Performs bravo clap)
Who else wants to sing?

Yes, Sean.

How about instrumental sounds, Mhia?

Instrumental sounds are the noises

created by musical instruments or
other objects. Instrumental music is
simply music that doesn’t contain
any words or vocals.
Awesome! That’s correct; we do not use
any words or vocals in instrumental
sounds; it’s purely instrumental.

What is your favorite instrument, Ruth?

And what about an instrumental cover?

I love playing piano, Ma’am, and

my favorite instrumental song is
“Dandelions” by Ruth B.
