How to get and install a license key for SAP


Netweaver 2004s ABAP Edition

Applies to:
Web Dynpro, SAP Web Application Server, ABAP

Summary
This document describes the procedure to get a 90 days trial license key for SAP Netweaver
2004s ABAP Edition. Within the standard installation of the ABAP Edition, there is a 30 day
license for evaluation purposes included. This procedure is documented for those that require
more then 30 days for evaluation.

Process Steps
The process steps are as followed:
1. Find out the hardware key from your installation.
2. Request a license key from website.
3. Enter the license key into the system and restart system.
4. Activate developer key for the new license key.

1. Find out the Hardware Key from your Installation


Log on to the NSP system as user sap* and enter the transaction code SLICENSE. A screen
appears as in the image below:

You’ll see the Active Hardware Key on the screen. In the example shown above the hardware
key is: T1014810725

2. Request License Key from Website


Click on http://www.sap.com/minisap to start a browser. Enter the required information in the
form at the end of the page. Use the hardware key you got from step one.

Press Send.
After a period of time you will get an email from SDN (SAP Developer Network) in which the
license key is provided.
SID : NSP
Your Hardware key : T1014810725
Your License Key : JHGMEHPFIGRBRHJVKVPXWKMG
License Expiration date: 20061130
Installation-Nr. : DEMOSYSTEM

3. Enter License Key into System


If not still running, start again transaction SLICENSE and click on Install. A popup window will
appear. Enter the values received with the email. Leave the system number blank. Press the
button. The new license will be installed.

The new license key is now installed and the TEMPLICENSE can be deleted. Select the old
TEMPLICENSE and choose Edit -> Delete License from the menu as shown below:

The old license will removed. Restart your NSP system now.

4. Activate Developer Key for New License Key


Logon to the NSP system as BCUSER. Start the Object Navigator with tansaction SE80.
Create a new object. A dialog popup will appear requesting the access key:

The access key for the NSP evaluation system is written in the document of the HTML page
where you did request the license key. Enter the key and press Continue. The developer key
for BCUSER is now active.
