About Seminar
India's rich and diverse knowledge system, developed over thousands of years, is one of the
world's most treasured cultural heritages. From Ayurveda, Yoga, and indigenous medicinal
practices to art forms, traditional agriculture, and crafts, India's knowledge systems have sustained
both its people and its culture for generations. However, the rapid digitization of information,
coupled with the global flow of digital content, presents new challenges and opportunities for the
protection of this invaluable knowledge.
Preservation and protection of India's traditional knowledge and cultural heritage is a critical
issue that needs urgent attention. The digital age presents both challenges and opportunities to
protect these invaluable resources. By harnessing the tools of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR),
we can ensure that India's traditional knowledge is protected, respected and used sustainably in the
rapidly evolving digital landscape. The symposium will provide a platform to discuss these issues
and propose solutions to ensure that India's rich cultural heritage remains a living resource,
benefiting local communities and the world at large.
As part of the One-Day Online Seminar on 'Preservation and Protection of Indian
Knowledge System through Intellectual Property Rights in the Digital Age' we invite scholars,
researchers, legal experts, policymakers, and practitioners to submit original articles for
presentation and discussion. This seminar aims to delve into how Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
can safeguard India’s traditional knowledge, while also addressing the pressing challenges in the
digital era.
The Purpose of this Seminar
It is to examine the opportunities and difficulties of utilizing intellectual property rights
(IPR) to safeguard and maintain traditional knowledge in India in the digital age. The
