1.1 Environmental Management System


- EMS Framework: Does the organization maintain a documented
Environmental Management System (EMS) framework? Are environmental
policies clearly documented and easily accessible?
- Objectives and Targets: Are environmental objectives and targets clearly
defined, with a plan in place to achieve them?
- Implementation and Operation: Are responsibilities and authorities assigned
for the EMS? Is there a documented procedure for implementation?
- Monitoring and Review: Are environmental performance indicators (KPIs)
tracked regularly? Are EMS reviews conducted periodically to assess
performance?

1.2 Energy Efficiency:


- Energy Policy: Is there an energy policy outlining goals and strategies of the
companies, and is that communicated to all employees?
Note: Based on the size & energy usgae of the company, the Energy policy can be
combined with Environment Policy
- Energy Audits: Are regular energy audits conducted, with findings
documented and addressed?
- Energy Efficiency Measures: Are energy efficiency projects identified and
implemented (e.g., upgrade of IE2 to IE4 motors, conventional lights to LED
lights)? Is there a plan for continuous improvement in energy performance?
- Renewable Energy: Is there a strategy to increase renewable energy use? Are
renewable energy installations (e.g., Solar Rooftop & offsite Solar/Wind plant) in
place?

1.3 Water Management:


- Water Conservation Policy: Is there a water conservation policy with defined
goals? Are this communicated effectively?
- Water Usage Tracking: Is water usage data collected and monitored regularly?
Are benchmarks for reduction established?
- Water Efficiency Projects: Are water-saving technologies and practices
implemented? Are water reuse and recycling initiatives operational?

1.5 Pollution and Emissions


- GHG Emission Inventory: Is there a comprehensive GHG inventory of emissions
sources? Are emissions data tracked and reported regularly?
- GHG Reduction Strategy: Is there a defined strategy for reducing greenhouse
gas emissions, including specific projects and timelines?
- Pollution Control Measures: Are pollution control technologies and practices
implemented? Are procedures (SOP) for managing accidental releases
established?

1.6 Biodiversity and Land Use


- Biodiversity Assessment: Are biodiversity impacts assessed for all operations? Is
baseline data collected?
- Habitat Protection: Are measures in place to protect local habitats and species?
Are restoration projects for degraded areas undertaken?
- Sustainable Land Use: Is land use planning aligned with sustainability
principles? Are initiatives in place to minimize land degradation?

1.7 Compliance and Reporting


- Regulatory Compliance: Is there a process to ensure compliance with
environmental regulations? Are compliance records maintained and accessible?
- Environmental Reporting: Are environmental performance reports published
regularly, keeping stakeholders informed?

practices? Are contracts compliant with labor laws?
- Working Conditions: Are working conditions safe and healthy? Are working

communicated? Is there a grievance mechanism in place?

- Health and Safety Policy: Is there a health and safety policy with assigned
responsibilities?
- Risk Assessments: Are regular health and safety risk assessments (HIRA)

- Incident Reporting: Is there a system for reporting and investigating incidents?
Are incident data analysed to prevent recurrence?

- Diversity Policy: Is there a policy for diversity and inclusion? Are goals
communicated and tracked?
- Training and Awareness: Are employees trained on diversity and inclusion
issues? Are programs in place to raise awareness?

- Community Policy: Is there a policy for engaging with local communities? Are
community engagement goals defined?
- Impact Assessments: Are community impacts assessed and documented? Are
mitigation measures implemented for negative impacts?
- Community Programs: Are community development programs in place? Is there
a process for tracking and reporting community engagement outcomes?

incidents tracked and addressed?
- Customer Feedback: Is there a process for collecting customer feedback? Are
complaints managed effectively?

4.3 Innovation and Sustainability


- Research and Development: Are investments made in R&D for sustainable
products? Are new technologies adopted to enhance ESG performance?
- Continuous Improvement: Is there a culture of continuous improvement in
sustainability practices? Are best practices shared across the organization?

Note: The above checklist is only for reference purposes and may vary from
sector to sector, it can be modified to suit your industry type.
