NARRATIVE REPORT FOR FIELD STUDY 1 AND 2
WEEK 1 IN – CAMPUS

We started our in Field Study 1 and 2 In-campus last September 11,2024. We were deployed
@ The Adelphi College Inc @ Lingayen, Pangasinan together with our FS coordinator Ma'am Lourdes
Sendaydiego and together with the school principal, Ma'am Odessa Manaoat who welcomed us with
an open - arms to the school. We, the elementary majors were divided into 4-5 members in each
grade levels. I was assigned in grade V , under the authority of sir John Wesley R. Cruz, the grade V.
class adviser of grade V.

My experience in observing and participating in the class for the first week, I could say that I
was quite surprised of what I was witnessed. I knew that every students are diverse to each other,
especially to their behavior, abilities and capabilities. My grade five students are good in recitations
and extracurricular activities. During the class discussion they are actively participating and
cooperating. They give their own insights and opinion as they answer, that quite impressive to be
observed.

As the days goes by, little by little they becoming close to me. Everyday our routine was in
the first two hours it will serve as our observation time which is our Field Study 1, while the other
two hours will serve as our assistantship and cooperating, which is our Field Study 2. There are times
that we, the field study students try to scold them because of their behavior. And our CT allowed us
to talk to them and guide them in some matter. I could say that the pandemic has a great impact to
the learners in today's generation. Some of them are struggling in reading, spelling and
communicating that affects their learning ability that needed to be addressed immediately.

I observed one student in my class that he can be identified as the so called '' Struggling
learner'', who was struggling in reading comprehension and communication. His students keep on
teasing him because they are not aware of his situation. Every time that they will have an activity to
be given, we the field study students will guide him of what he will need to do. You know what's the
best characteristic does he have? he is a giver, who love to share and offer his food to his classmates.

Moreover, students with different abilities—such as those with learning disabilities or gifted
students— bring another layer of diversity to the classroom. It is important to recognize and address
the varying needs of students in order to foster an inclusive learning environment. Providing
accommodations and differentiated instruction ensures that every student, regardless of their ability
or background, can access the content and achieve their potential. This approach not only benefits
students with special needs but also encourages a culture of inclusivity and respect for all learners.
WEEK 2 IN – CAMPUS

In our week two, a lot of things happened. My class participated in one event where they
receive an award for being in the 3rd place. They got trophy and displayed it in our room. As a
routine every morning, I always keep on listing down names on the board under noisy, because of
their talkativeness. And as an education student, a bunch of patience should always be with us as
always. One time I scolded them because they cross their boundaries as our students, and in the end
as they just realize their mistake they apologize immediately. We learn a lot form our students and
they also do learn from us.

One time, The Adelphi College Inc. had a ''film viewing'' and every grade level was required
to join on that activity. I assisted my students going to the PT room, they have their assigned chairs in
the room. The grade five will watch together with grades 4 and 6, the movie that they watched was
the new released movie entitled '' Inside Out 2''. They are all very excited and focused on the movie.
I could see all the student's happiness and how they startled. After a few days, they had their
examination. The test papers are given to them, and they started answering it. We are asked to guide
them answering in some questions, most of them could not answer it well. They don't even know
the Filipino translation of other words like ''Huwebes, Uno, Sapagkat etc''. In this generation, learners
are really struggling in reading with a low reading comprehension, it is needed to be addressed.

Addressing the challenges in reading comprehension requires targeted interventions and

strategies. One effective method is building students’ vocabulary. Teachers can help students expand
their vocabulary by introducing new words in context, encouraging reading across different genres,
and using activities such as word games and flashcards. A strong vocabulary foundation allows
students to better decode texts and understand the meaning of unfamiliar words.

WEEK 1 OFF – CAMPUS

Our FS Coordinator, Ma'am Lourdes Sendaydiego. As we arrived at the school, we
went to the principal office and waited for a few minutes for the principal. A few minutes
later, the school principal arrived , Ma'am Ofelia Urayan, the school principal welcomed us
with an open arms. We had our short discussion about the school policies, and in assigning
the grade levels to us was 1:1 where in each room will only have one observer. She let us
picked on what grade level we want. Among the 7, I was assigned at the higher grade which
is grade six under Ma'am Marites D. De Guzman, a Teacher III. Ma'am Ofelia Urayan, toured
us around the campus and introduced us one by one to every teacher that will our
Cooperating Teacher. We felt the butterfly inside our stomach.

It was flag ceremony that time and its our official first day of our deployment at the
school. Later on, the school principal Ma'am Ofelia Urayan let us go Infront of the stage and
introduced as for the second time around to all the faculty members and students. They
remind the students to treat us with respect and obey us as their teachers. We introduced
ourself one by one for them to know who we are and what school we came from. After the
introduction we went back in our line and did a little exercise, after that we went back to our
designated classrooms. As it was my first day in my off - campus deployment, another
adjustment for the school environment and a lot of students I will be encountering once again.
As the days goes by, it was my routine to seat and observed the students. And quite
sometimes, they talk to me and make few conversations with me.

As the days goes by, as observing the students in Poblacion Central School a could
compare the private school and public school learners. My grade six students are really
competitive and smart enough, in every discussion they actively participating and cooperating
as they share their ideas. They were given an activity which is called '' Dula-Dulaan'' they
were given a very short time to prepare, later on the ''Dula-Dulaan'' began. They act and
portray their scenario perfectly without a proper practice, I was amazed. Ma'am Marites teach
the students in a '' centered learner'' style, which help the students a lot. They let them read
alone, answering questions related to the real - world situation. Everyday, the students are
motivated and eager to learn from their class, I can see that they enjoying their lessons every
time they are entering the class, even though sometimes they got scolded but they see it as a
positive way.

First week was a plain observation, in conclusion, observation is a powerful tool for
enhancing the educational experience for both teachers and students. Through observation,
educators gain valuable insights into student behavior, learning styles, academic progress, and
social-emotional development. This information allows teachers to tailor their instruction to
meet individual needs, adjust strategies to keep students engaged, and provide support to
foster both academic and personal growth. Ultimately, observation helps create a more
inclusive, responsive, and effective learning environment, ensuring that every student has the
opportunity to succeed.

WEEK 2 OFF – CAMPUS

November 6, 2024, it was my second week of my deployment. We're I am able to
assist my Cooperating Teacher in the teaching-learning discussion. Ma'am Marites let me do
somethings to lessen her paper works. I helped her to encode some needed information that
she needed to pass at the principal office. One time, she assigned me to guide my students
and to coach them, because they actively participated an activity for the upcoming celebration
of ''National Children's Month''. I coach my students on their poster making and teach some
techniques that I used to do when I join poster making contest before. I let them express their
ideas on the giving theme, and help them to construct it in a form of drawing. I was also
assigned to direct my three other female students in photo story, which my Ct let me helped
them and liked my idea about it. It was my pleasure that my Ct entrust me guide those
students.

One time my CT was in-charge for a meeting, and she needed a help for the
preparation. I was asked to buy some snacks for the faculty and I did it. In the afternoon, she
assigned and give me an authority to handle the class because she needed to prepare at the
principal office, so I did my part. The learners are very obedient they know what they will do
and their responsibilities everyday like (cleaning the room and they helped one another). I
became close to them they always greet me whenever they see me in or outside the school
campus. It was an overwhelming experienced for me. Moreover, my CT was very support,
she let me take photos that I needed and she also taking up photos of me while assisting the
students. She was very approachable, the needed information that I need, she provided it and
even let me print her DLL in her room for free. I really enjoyed my out campus, and I learned
a lot while I am observing and assisting the students.

In conclusion, observation is a powerful tool for enhancing the educational experience

for both teachers and students. Through observation, educators gain valuable insights into
student behavior, learning styles, academic progress, and social-emotional development. This
information allows teachers to tailor their instruction to meet individual needs, adjust
