1) Introduction.

The Project Stretch (Bangalore – Malur Section) starts from Bangalore (Hoskote) i.e., Design Ch. (-) 0+700 and
terminates at Malur in Kolar District i.e., Design Ch. 26+400.

Karnataka is the 6th largest state in Central India. It is a source of high-grade iron and manganese ores, accounting
for 50% of India's total iron ore exports in the country. Karnataka is one of the fastest-developing states in India.

1.2). Project Details & Salient Features of the Project.

1.2.1 Project Influence Area (PIA)

The Bangalore Malur Section of Bangalore Chennai Expressway is a new program for the
highways sector that focuses on optimizing efficiency of freight and passenger movement
between Bangalore and Chennai by bridging critical infrastructure gaps through effective
interventions like development of Economic Corridors, Inter Corridors and Feeder Routes,
National Corridor Efficiency Improvement. A total of around 27.100 km are being considered in
Package I.

1.2.2 PROJECT BACKGROUND

The project falls in the State of Karnataka for Rehabilitation and Up-gradation to 4-lane with
paved shoulders configuration of Bangalore – Malur Section of NH-207. The Project Stretch
(Bangalore – Malur Section) starts from Bangalore (Hoskote) i.e., Design Ch. (-) 0+700 and
terminates at Malur i.e., Design Ch. 26+400.

Location of the Project Area

The Project Stretch (Bangalore – Malur Section) starts from Bangalore (Hoskote) i.e., Design Ch.
(-) 0+700 and terminates at Malur in Kolar District i.e., Design Ch. 26+400.

The entire stretch passes through State of Karnataka with a length of 27.10 km. The 27.10 km
long stretch is entirely characterized by two lane carriageways. The project road stretch is
passing through Plain terrain. The land use by the side of this road includes agriculture,
residential and commercial use. The establishments on both sides of the road are in general are
outside the available ROW. The carriageway width of this section is predominantly two-lane
standard (7m).

Villages and Towns

The stretch passes through Bangalore Urban and Bangalore rural districts. Important towns
along the route are Hoskote, Haralur, Jadigenahally, Hedaginabele, Madivala and Malur

Maintenance Activities

➢ The pothole’s repair was carried out regularly and the highway and existing road has

been maintained Pothole free.

➢ Repair & Maintenance of parapet wall on existing Bridges.

➢ Maintenance and repair of damaged Traffic Sign boards.

➢ Removal of unauthorized hoardings is in progress.

➢ In addition to the above, regular maintenance is ongoing in accordance with Provisions

in Article No 17 of CA.

Traffic Management Safety


Road safety has been accorded very high priority. Traffic safety measures are adopted at
all Maintenance zones. The utmost care is being taken for the safety of the labor force,

toll plaza area, and equipment as well as road users while carrying out the Maintenance
activities. Maintenance zones have been marked. Required PPE have been provided to all

the workers at site.

3. Traffic Management
Traffic is being regulated by providing flagmen, signage, and diversion at various

locations along the project highway.

Detailed site-specific plans will be evolved for each Maintenance site and reviewed time
to time. A dynamic team of Safety Officers and Engineers has already been mobilized at

all the camps. Safety audit and traffic management as per Maintenance site requirement
is constantly monitored.

Accident Report

Accidents have been reported at site during this reporting month November 2024.

Safety Measures
Necessary Safety Measures undertaken during the reporting month. Safety teams
appointed are constantly carrying out the safety audit of the sites.
• First aid boxes placed at Toll Plaza with trained male nurses/first aider to handle minor
injuries.
• PPE distributed to all staff and Periodic Toolbox instructions conducted at site for
various departments.
• Induction training is given to all new employees.
• Designated Flagmen placed for Road Maintenance works where Maintenance is under
progress.

4. The Concessionaire (O & M)

1. Scope of Work

Four laning from km0.000 to km26.400 (along with 0.700 Km approach towards NH 207 with
interchange on NH4 at start point) of Bangalore to Malur section of Bangalore Chennai
Expressway on Hybrid Annuity Mode under Bharatmala Pariyojna, in the state of Karnataka
(Phase-1, Package-I)

1.1 Maintenance Management

The concessionaire is administering the maintenance management of the project


highway and the other facilities through an experienced fleet of professionals. Also, the
maintenance management team monitors different maintenance aspects (detailed
below) on a continuous basis throughout the project corridor. The maintenance team is
primarily looking after the following maintenance aspects as per the maintenance
schedule laid down in the Annual Maintenance Programme.

1.1.1 Highway Maintenance

The objective of (Project) Highway Maintenance is to maintain the safety, durability and
functionality of the (Project) highway throughout the concession period. This contains
regular and preventive maintenance for the corridor carriageway and project facilities.
Broadly, it will include maintenance of the carriageway, crust, shoulder, slopes, side
drains and cross drainage works.

1.1.2 Project Property Management

The objective of Project Property Management is to preserve the inventories and


investments in the project road intact throughout the operation and maintenance phase.
This includes identification of encroachments as desired by NHAI, enforcement of
regulations, liaison with the relevant authorities for the above and maintenance of road
furniture and road signs.

1.1.3 Incident Management

The Incident Management is aimed to take immediate response measures to any


incident occurring in the corridor with Route patrols and surveillance, first aid, basic
ambulance assistance, tow away cranes and road safety works.

1.1.4 Environment Management

The basic objective of Environment Management is to preserve and protect the


compatibility of the road system with the environment.

1.1.5 Engineering Improvements

Engineering Improvement is aimed at enhancing the project functionalities, deteriorated


over time and rehabilitation of the project elements at specified intervals of time. This
covers junction improvements, providing crash barriers, resurfacing and management of
access.
