Digital weighing machine


In AHS separate weighing machine has weighing infants and young children. not been provided for

Weights of infants and young children who cannot or will not stand on the digital weighing machine, will be computed by finding out the difference in weight between the weight of mother/caregiver when she is carrying the child and her own weight It is, therefore, essential that the digital balance used is accurate and sensitive to 100 grams ( sensitive to assess differences of 100 grams in the weight of the child when the adult woman and child are weighed together) Given the possibility that the electricity may not be available and sun may be playing hide and seek, it was decided to use a battery operated digital weighing machine Several indigenously manufactured digital weighing machines are available with capacity between 5 kg and 150 Kg and sensitivity of 100 grams

Lancet and pipette for collection of blood

Sterile packaged lancets are used for pricking the finger Glass pipettes for pipetting 20 l of blood Several standard makes are readily available in the market Accuracy has to be tested against a standard pipette: expected accuracy colorimetric reading + 0.01 OD Colorimeters : numerous brands available expected accuracy colorimetric reading + 0.01 OD

In all persons aged 18 or above , blood pressure will be measured and blood glucose estimation will be done Digital BP measuring instrument will be used for blood pressure measurements Glucometer will be used for measuring fasting blood glucose
