The events in Jose Rizal’s life, including his education, experiences with injustice,

literary contributions, and courageous sacrifices collectively shaped him into a national hero. In
today’s rapidly changing world, where the crime rate is rising alongside environmental changes,
approaching wars, political issues, and others, it is true that we need more people like Rizal, who
is a competent professional, socially concerned, and nationalistic.

There are several methods I can employ to train a student to possess the qualities
mentioned that are also related to various events and factors in Rizal’s life. Firstly, to teach a
student to become a competent professional, I would focus on developing a diverse skill set that
includes technical expertise, just like what Rizal demonstrated in his medical practice as an
ophthalmologist. I would also encourage the student to commit to continuous growth like Rizal,
which was evident in his dedication to his studies abroad, despite the challenges he faced.
Secondly, for the student to become socially concerned, I would like him to be exposed to
societal issues and encourage him to engage in community service by tasking him with
action/outreach projects. Instill him a sense of responsibility towards addressing social
inequalities and promoting social justice like Rizal’s efforts in participating in reform movements
and organizing group concerned to injustices and social inequalities experienced by Filipinos
under Spanish colonial rule. Just like how he engaged in community service and advocacy
through his novel titled “El Filibusterismo” which exposed the abuses. Finally, for him to
become nationalistic, I would foster a deep appreciation for our cultural heritage, history, and
national identity through cultural workshops, historical tours, literature programs, etc. As Rizal
also fostered a deep appreciation for Filipino cultural heritage and history through his writings
and his efforts to preserve and promote the Filipino identity through his numerous written works,
including his famous novel "Noli Me Tangere".
As a future educator, I am determined to deepen my understanding of this subject, live by
these values, and promote their integration so that I can effectively teach it to my future students
and serve as a positive role model.
