can be used.

3. To simulate the effect of time on picture Aging tool is used.

4. Send to Back place image at the bottom of all objects.

5. An image can be deleted by clicking/selecting it and pressing

DELETE key.

6. In drawing tools, basic shapes list provides different shapes.

7. Anchor act as Reference Point point for a drawing.

8. There are Three options for aligning an image horizontally.

9. The Rotation handles of image are used for rotating it.

10. Changing properties of an object before creation, retain them

throughout the session

C. Short answer type questions

Que 1. What is a digital image? How can you create one?

Ans. A picture is a digital image, which is representation of image in

finite set of digital values 0 or 1, known as pixels. These are stored in
various types of graphics files with the file extension, such as GIF,
JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP, etc . They can be created using an electronic
camera, scanner, or other imaging device

Que2. Write steps to insert an image from the gallery using Drag and
Drop method.

Ans. A general procedure to insert an image using drag and drop

option, is as follows.

Step 1. Open the document to insert an image in LibreOffice Writer.

Step 2. Open a file browser window (Win+E) and select the image file
to be inserted.

Step 3. Drag the image into the document

Step 4. Drop it, where you want it to appear in the document.

Que 3. How is resizing of image different from cropping it?

Ans. Cropping is when you cut off part of an image to achieve a new
size or shape. Resizing maintains the entire image and simply changes
the size.

Que 4. What are the tools available in drawing toolbar? Describe any
five tools.

In LibreOffice Writer the drawing toolbar provides several tools that

allow users to create and manipulate graphical elements within their
documents

• Line Tool: Similar to other drawing toolbars, the Line tool in

LibreOffice Writer allows users to draw straight lines of various
thicknesses and styles.
• Rectangle Tool: This tool allows users to draw rectangles and
squares on the document canvas. Rectangles can be resized,
moved, and customized with different fill colors and border
styles.
• Ellipse Tool: The Ellipse tool enables users to draw circles and
ellipses. Like rectangles, ellipses can be resized and styled with
different fill colors and borders.
• Text Box Tool: This tool allows users to insert text boxes
anywhere on the document canvas. Text boxes can be formatted
with different fonts, sizes, colors, and alignments.
• Insert Image Tool: In LibreOffice Writer, the Insert Image tool
on the drawing toolbar allows users to add images from their
computer or other sources directly into the document.

Que 5. How is linking of an image different from embedding? Give a

situation in which you would prefer to link an image.

Ans. In LibreOffice Writer, linking and embedding images are two

different ways of including images within a document.

Embedding an Image: Embedding an image means that the image file

itself is inserted into the document. The entire image file becomes a
part of the document file.

Linking an Image: Linking an image means that the image file

remains separate from the document file, and only a reference or link
to the image file is inserted into the document.

Linking is preferred over Embedding in below situations:

a) File Size Management: Linking reduces the size of the

LibreOffice document file, making it easier to manage and share
electronically, especially if the document contains many images.
b) Updating Images: If the images are subject to frequent updates
or changes

Que 6. Write steps to change properties for drawing objects.

Ans. Follow the steps for changing properties of the object after
drawing it.

Step 1. Select the object whose properties are to be modified.

Step 2. From Drawing Object Properties Toolbar, click on the icon of

property to be modified.

Step 3. From Drawing Object Properties Toolbar, click on the icon of

property to be modified.

Step 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to change all desired properties.

Step 5. Draw the desired figure by following the steps given in the
previous section.

Que 7. What are the benefits and drawbacks of grouping drawing

objects?

Ans. Benefits of Grouping Drawing Objects:

a) Grouping makes it easier to organize multiple drawing objects
(shapes, text boxes, images, etc.) into a single unit.
b) Maintaining Alignment: Objects stay together and aligned
correctly
c) Ease of Replication: Grouped objects can be duplicated or
copied as a single unit.
d) It gives clarity in Complex Diagrams:

Drawbacks of Grouping Drawing Objects:

a) Once objects are grouped, it can be challenging to edit them
individually.
b) Sometimes it can lead to increased complexity.
c) Grouping objects incorrectly can lead to errors in document
layout
d) When sharing documents with others who use different
software versions or applications, compatibility issues may
arise if the grouped objects are not supported or interpreted
correctly.

Que 8. Describe any two tools from Drawing Object Properties toolbar.

Ans. Here are descriptions of two key tools from the Drawing Object
Properties toolbar:

1. Image arrangement tools

Tool Effect

Bring to Front Place image on top of all objects / images

Forward One Bring image one level up, when there are
overlapping images
Back One Sends image one level down in overlapping
images
Send to Back Place image at the bottom of all objects/ images
To Foreground Moves the drawing object in front of the text.
To Background Moves the drawing object behind the text.
2. Text Wrapping tools
Tool Wrapping Effect
Wrap off Text is placed above and below the image
Page Wrap Text flows around the image. Moving an image
will rearrange the text on the page
Optimal Page In Page Wrap, if the space between image and
wrap margin is less than 2 cm then text will not be
placed on that side
Wrap left Text is placed on left side of the image
Wrap right Text is placed on the right side of the image
Wrap through Superimposes the image on the text

Que 9. Write factors controlling positioning of an image in a

document.

Ans. Positioning of an image is controlled by four settings.

i) Arrangement - In Overlapping objects, arrangement

determines the position of the current drawing with respect to
other drawings or text.
ii) Anchoring - It acts as a reference point for image or drawing.
iii) Alignment - It allows the vertical or horizontal placement of
the image with respect to its anchor.
iv) Text Wrapping - It allows the placement of image in relation to
text.
