Scenario
You are an IT Specialist in ABC Company that has two branches (Cairo and Alex),
each branch has two floor. The first floor consists of 80 user device and the second
floor consists of 100 user device. The first floor has HR, Sales, Call Center, IT,
Engineering departments and the second floor has Call Center, Accounting,
Engineering, Finance and Sales departments. HR consists of 10 employees, Sales
consists of 35 employees, IT consists of 20 employees, Finance consists of 15
employees, call center consists of 30 employees, Accounting consists of 20
employees, Engineering consists of 50 employees. ABC Company bought a
Network IP address of 192.168.1.0 from IANA Organization.

2
Task No.01
Design a network to connect the two branches then according to your own design, answer the
following questions:

1) Define different switching concepts .

2) Use your own design to differentiate between Physical and logical topology.

3) How many routers and switches will you use in your design.

4) Show the number of subnets .

5) For each subnet, show the following :

a. CIDR " Subnet mask " .

b. Network address " Subnet address " .
c. Number of IPs you can use in this Network .
d. Number of hosts that will be available to be used in the future.
e. Broadcast Address.
f. First Host Address .
g. Last Host Address .

6) Create VLAN for each department in a company and name it.

7) Configure the host name of each router to "R n", Note : n is the number of router.

8) Configure the host name of each switch to "S n", Note : n is the number of switch

9) Create an encrypted password for the privilege mode for each router and switch in this
Network .

10) Show all configurations of routers and switches of this Network.

11) Use ICMP protocol to check the connectivity between the end devices in this Network.

12) There are four basic characteristics that the underlying architectures of any network need
to address to meet user expectations: Asses your design in terms of these characteristics.

3
13) Both Layer 3and layer 2 provides addressing services, Discriminate between the addresses
given by each layer then outline which address changes at every hop and why?

14) Differentiate between MAC address table & ARP table , Then explain how to view each
of them ?

15) Identify the difference between static and dynamic routing concepts.

16) Illustrate the concept of the link state and distance vector based protocols.

17) Show the routing table for each router.

18) Contrast process switching mechanism to Cisco Express Forwarding mechanism.
